On behalf of the registrars and conferencing & events team at Kensington and Chelsea, we’d like to thank you all for pulling together and helping us engineer not one, not two, but FIVE shoots across Chelsea Old Town Hall, all in ONE day. It was wonderful to see suppliers who’d been allocated a specific room, lending a hand and helping out other rooms as and when needed, the shoot really did have a family feel to it, which was great to experience.

Thanks to the behind the scenes suppliers who worked magic in creating our wow-wedding looks and thanks to the models and features, who were in front of the camera “giving us face” and ensuring we had beautiful images. A
much-needed internal face-lift of the loved Grade II* listed Chelsea Old Town Hall began in early 2018. After months of careful planning, the Chelsea Old Town Hall renovation is now completed and we cannot wait to share our newly refurbished venue with you. We were fortunate to work with a fantastic team of event suppliers who helped us to transform the space for some fabulous wowwedding looks within a styled shoot and we are really excited to show the new eagerly anticipated wedding rooms to you all today. We asked our Head of Registration Services Steven Lord to give some advice to couples and he told us, “Do all legal paperwork as early as possible, then plan all the finer details afterwards. Think legalities first! And most importantly don’t be afraid to ask your partners to get more 8

fter an extensive renovation, we are proud to showcase our new ceremony rooms located at the Chelsea Old Town Hall. As you can imagine, we couldn’t have done any of this transformational work as shown in our styled shoot without our fabulous network of wedding suppliers and models who spent two days transforming and taking pictures inside our newly decorated spaces. As this magazine is highlighting the different looks in our styled shoot, these rooms have all been “dressed”. Interview with a planner...meet Tessa
T
essa Williams IEWP, Founder and Managing Director of A Touch Of Nevaeh co-ordinated the styling of the ceremony rooms. Having graduated from QC Event School, she is now a certified International Event and Wedding Planning Professional™ (IEWPŽ) an accreditation she is particularly proud about.
What was your vision for this space? I wanted a clean, flexible setting with a pop of colour in the form of flowers, provided by the lovely Gaynor of Bailey and Blossom, as well as a touch of whimsy. This was showcased in the elegant balloon installation by Balloonista. It was really lovely working with the Registrars to get this ready, we were like a little family, all working hard to get the spaces ready and the models in place! 12
PROFILE OF A FEW SPECIAL TOUCHES IN THIS SPACE
What made you get into the wedding and events industry? I have always had a passion for weddings and event planning. I started off with my sister Nina and for years we planned everything from birthdays to weddings, anniversaries to day trips, funerals and christenings, you name it we did it!! It was easy, especially coming from a large family such as ours. One day years later I decided that this was not enough for me I wanted more. I craved more, more knowledge, more experience and also certification. To be certified as a Wedding and Event Planner was a big thing for me so I enrolled on a course and at the end received my certification as an International Event and Wedding Planning Professional, so I am proud. What’s next for you? I absolutely love travelling and love wedding and event planning, so it’s only right I mix my two passions together and plan destination weddings! o now you’ve said “I do”, it’s only a short walk to the other side of the Chelsea Old Town Hall to delight and amaze your guests within one of our fully customisable reception spaces. The first rooms we’d like to draw you into is the Cadogan Suite. Comprising of two conjoined rooms, of which the main one incidentally used to be a storage area; it has now been transformed into a beautiful space, perfect for various numbers of guests for a wedding breakfast or even a bridal shower.
Perfect for intimate occasions or larger weddings: As the Cadogan Suite’s name suggests, there is also an Ante-Room which guests can spill into

xperienced planner Cristal of Cristal Oliver Weddings is bringing fantasy weddings into reality, one dream at a time.
A wedding is a couple’s all important day. How would you micro-manage such a big occasion whilst still ensuring the couple feels catered for throughout their big day?
I always want to ensure that every moment of the wedding feels special for our couple (especially our bride) whilst maintaining the high standard of service and style we have been entrusted to deliver, which is why I have hand-picked a team of highly skilled co-ordinators to work alongside me to create the magical day every bride and groom dreams of. So due to careful pre-planning, micromanaging is never stressful for me when it comes to executing the long-awaited wedding day.

If a client approached you with a colour theme that you felt was a total mix match or a vision that was out of this world, how would you guide them? We get a varied array of clients, some are very traditional and others are more adventurous with their colour themes. We welcome both types, as we are versatile and relish the idea of challenging our creativity to make all visions work and still create the wow factor every time! We recently had an enquiry to create an enchanted garden with real trees! Nothing is asking too much in our opinion. Whether it’s a blush pink and rose gold, or bright orange and emerald green, we are able to take every couple’s vision and make it a beautiful reality. What are your top three tips you would give to an engaged couple who has never planned any event whatsoever? 1. Hire a good, well-recommended planner! 2. Speak to someone who you know has recently said their “I dos” (who is also probably likely to advise you to get a planner…!) 3. Explore some great blogs, magazines and publications that can give you inspiration. his room is the ying to the main room’s yang and was a space that Celestine of Angels and Gypsies team got to work transforming into the pretty area you see before you. This room can also host ceremonies and is always able to be customised to a couple’s particular tastes. The pastel coloured theme matched just so with the decor, showcasing it to perfection.
Bright and breezy: Full of natural sunlight, the Ante-Room can be transformed into a fairytale setting. The flower wall was so effective, you expected butterflies to emerge

Interview with a decor specialist... meet Celestine
P
riding themselves on their fantastic customer service and their ability to transform any space within most time frames, Celestine from Angels and Gypsies has some advice for couples planning to use a distinctive venue.
What piece of advice would you give to couples about their wedding decor?
Always think about your decor in conjunction with your venue. Do not try to impose your preconceived wedding styling ideas on your venue without really looking at the space, shapes and colour tones of the area. Try not to ‘overdress’ a venue that is already gorgeous. You can overdo it. Likewise, some venues actually do require more work. 20
PROFILE OF A FEW SPECIAL TOUCHES IN THIS SPACE
In your experience, what has been the one reoccurring problem you have seen happen on wedding days? Bad wedding day timings. I am not talking about running late, I am referring to the fact that the original plan was awry in the first place. For instance, not planning enough time for initial set up, not setting enough time aside for photographs and lastly, not assigning enough time to the speeches. What three things would you change about your own wedding? This is a hard one. Firstly, I would have hired in nicer chairs. Chairs play such a huge part in how your wedding decor looks. Secondly, I would have had taller centrepieces. There is no proper reason for this, I just love them. Oversized centrepieces are definitely the order of the day. Lastly, instead of a DJ, I would have had a live wedding band. They are so in right now and they create such a cool vibe. A truly collaborative effort, ,Celestine was keen to thank all of her trusted suppliers, many of whom she’s worked with before, particularly Bespoke Bakes By Danielle, who created the eye catching sweet treats

he specific request for this look was to have some particular nods to nature and ensure that there was a feeling of the outside brought in, which was certainly achieved with this impressive display. Designed to showcase the space as being suitable for both a ceremony and a reception, this ambitious theme was able to be photographed from above due to an accessible balcony, great for creative shots. A dance floor provided by GoodWorks Entertainment was key to subtly partitioning the space, they also transformed it with mood- enhancing lighting.

A
rtistic wedding planners Lorraine and Meena love the idea of a challenge, and transforming the Small Hall into a dual purpose space was right up their street. Who inspires you? Wow, there are so many people who inspire us in this industry, but if we had to choose it would definitely be Mindy Weiss. She provides a full service of event planning, is an author, speaker and has worked with brands such as Vogue, Lancome, Too Faced and many more. Mindy has planned a variety of events such as; weddings, product launch parties, baby showers and has been in the industry for twenty years.

What influenced you to start your business in wedding planning and co-ordination? L : Definitely planning my own wedding! It was challenging and very stressful, but I knew what I wanted and how I wanted it, but at the time I was the only one I trusted to make it happen. Having the experience of having been a bride myself, it is easy for me to relate to other brides and ensure that all their worries are put to rest. M: I love weddings! I have had a passion for weddings from as long as I can remember and I thought why not turn this passion into a business? So I did! What advice would you give to a couple getting married looking for a wedding planner/co-ordinator? Shop around! There are so many wedding planners/ co-ordinators to choose from but select the one that best fits you. Go to consultations (the first one is usually free) so you can meet them and feel their energy, that is so important! Oh, recommendations are pretty good too, definitely worth checking them out.

The Great Grea Hall

or couples who just want a bit more space, we’ve got them covered. Say hello to the Great Hall. With an impressive surface area of 267 sq mts, it is a superb example of late Victorian neo-classical architecture with its vaulted ceilings, marble columns, sprung wooden floor and cove lighting. The venue boasts original oil paintings and ornate wooden panelling and iron work. Yet it also offers contemporary event support services for a broad range of client events including Conferences, Weddings, Fashion Shows, Art and Antique Shows, Concerts and Charitable Events and is surely one of London’s most unique event facilities. We literally had a bit of fun in this space at the end of the day’s shoot and our runaway bride shook out her hair and tossed the bouquet. Our youngest model Venn happily caught it. Watch out world!
