Boscastle (10 miles) The picturesque harbour of Boscastle is a place steeped in history, associated with artists and authors including Thomas Hardy who were inspired by its remoteness and rugged beauty. Look out for crooked cottages and wonky rooftops that give the area such character.

Lanhydrock House and Garden (12 miles) Visit the National Trust’s Lanhydrock in Cornwall, a magnificent late Victorian country house with gardens and wooded estate.

Beautiful Cardinham is a mixed woodland that is popular with walkers and cyclists who follow the winding trails to reach several stunning viewpoints.

The Camel Trail takes walkers and cyclists along the Camel Estuary, following a disused railway line through beautiful Cornish countryside between Bodmin and Padstow.

Fashionable Polzeath has a stunning beach that is simply huge at low tide.

When you’re ready for a break from bathing, grab a table at one of the excellent waterfront restaurants.

Daymer Bay (14 miles)

A haven for beach lovers, wind surfers, dog walkers and rock pooling. Take a walk up Brea Hill to soak in the incredible views of the Camel Estuary all the way from Pentire Point to Padstow.

Bodmin & Wenford Railway (10 miles)

With two miles of golden sand just waiting to be explored, Watergate Bay is perfect for quiet walks on the beach or a spot of surfing. You can dine at Jamie Oliver’s famous ‘Fifteen’ restaurant which overlooks the beach and boasts spectacular views.

Home to the world’s largest indoor rainforest and an arid desert landscape. Follow a treetop trail through the jungle canopy and discover an amazing array of trees and plants up close.
