Before the race All runners must have their number fastened to the front and visible at all times. The chip for electronic timing must be fastened to the runner’s shoe before the race (in the Relay the chip is fastened around the ankle with a Velcro strap). For security reasons, runners are asked to write their name and other personal information on the back of their number. MyLaps electronic timing The data chip has to be securely fastened to the runner’s shoe in order to record times in the 10, 21, and 42 km and Relay distances (an ankle strap is provided in the relay race). Each participant gets one chip that is linked to his/her name and number. This environmentally friendly chip is rented to the competitor during the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon and is to be returned after the race to the race staff. The chip is of no use to the participant in other races, but if returned, it can be reprogrammed by the organiser for use in the next race. Parti-
