Antigua With its safe harbours, beautiful reefs, protected bays and glorious palm-fringed beaches, the island of Antigua is renowned for its contented culture. Much of the laid-back vibe is centred on the blue waters which surround its shores and surely its most well-known attraction is its offering for keen sailors. But you can enjoy life on the water inland too, with a kayaking trip among Antigua’s mangroves and tropical ecosystem.

Nestled within this small island is a wealth of cultural attractions; from Nelson’s Dockyard National Park – the only Georgian-era dockyard still in use in the world – to the island’s capital of St John’s, where a visit to the Arts and Crafts Market is well worthwhile a look. Connect with the island’s vibrant marine life by heading over to Sting Ray City, where you can handle tame sting rays surrounded by unspoilt coral reef and spectacular scenery. Or for a unique adventure, try zip-lining through the lush Antiguan rainforest with a canopy tour – an adrenaline-fuelled experience that is unforgettable.

Barbados Barbados is a destination of international renown, where the glitterati go to see and be seen, yet scratch the surface and it remains true to itself with elements of its rich and varied culture never far from view. This is the island where the refined luxury of internationally acclaimed cuisine and exceptional hotels mingles effortlessly with fish festivals and rum shacks to create a unique atmosphere that calls its visitors back time and again.

And then of course there’s the cricket. This is the nation that has been at the heart of some of the greatest West Indies teams – think Greenidge and Haynes, the ‘Three W’s’ and Sir Garfield Sobers – and whose famed Kensington Oval ground has seen drama aplenty and much ‘calypso cricket’ down the years.

It has now been redeveloped to provide modern facilities, but still retains much of the colour and character that the island is famous for.

WEST INDIES CRICKET IN THE CARIBBEAN In Antigua and Barbados cricket goes far beyond sport; it’s a part of life, weaving a vibrant strand through the islands’ rich shared heritage. Only for cricket are individual island rivalries forgotten, uniting under one flag – that of the West Indies cricket team.

1st ODI – ANTIGUA – 3 MARCH 2017 The ODI series begins on the peaceful island of Antigua, where the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium will be the backdrop for the opening games.

2nd ODI – ANTIGUA – 5 MARCH 2017 Enjoy England’s second ODI Match of the series at the SVRS.

3rd ODI – BARBADOS – 9 MARCH 2017 The final One-Day International will be in the modern facilities of the Bajan home of cricket, the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. We’ve been travelling to the ground, which has a capacity of 11,000, for over two decades, and always receive a warm reception when we’re in town!

Set on one of the island’s most beautiful beaches and overlooking the Caribbean Sea and views to the island of Montserrat, Jacqui O’s is something of an institution; a secluded, casual but elegant family beach house restaurant and beach bar serving international fare with a Caribbean twist.

Today’s cricket action will be followed by our popular State of Play evening, for an entertaining and informal review of the day’s play with your host and fellow guests.

06 MARCH Today fly to Barbados, where you’ll be met and transferred to the Fairmont Royal Pavilion for 5 nights’ accommodation in an Ocean Front Deluxe Room on a bed & breakfast basis.

07 MARCH Today will be a day to do as you please! Take a catamaran excursion or head out on your own, perhaps choosing a day’s shopping at Lime Grove, a visit to the Mount Gay Rum Factory or swimming with turtles off the West Coast.

08 MARCH The day before the Barbados ODI kicks off we have arranged for lunch at the historic Lancaster Great House for our guests on the Platinum Tour. This 350-year-old plantation house has been amazingly restored and filled with the most wonderful antiques from around the world.

You’ll be spoilt by a menu of Caribbean fare washed down with local rum punch.

09 MARCH WEST INDIES vs ENGLAND, 3RD ODI Kensington Oval, Barbados We’ve been travelling to the Bajan home of cricket for over 25 years and thanks to this history we always get a very warm welcome at the Kensington Oval.

10 MARCH Sadly, it will be time to say goodbye to the beautiful island of Barbados, but not before we’ve celebrated a fine time had by all at our farewell dinner.

11 MARCH All guests who have decided not to extend their stay in the Caribbean will be transferred to Grantley Adams International Airport for their return flight to London.

For those who haven’t experienced these events before, they take the format of a drinks reception with a panel of celebrity hosts, offering their insight on the games and answering any questions you may have. As well as the former England players and professional pundits who travel with us as tour hosts, we will be inviting ex-West Indies players and other sporting professionals along. In past years these have included the likes of Usain Bolt, Desmond Haynes and many more!

Further details of all special functions and events on your chosen itinerary – such as welcome drinks, farewell dinners and State of Play evenings – will be provided in resort by your ITC Sports Travel tour managers. This former plantation residence is set amid mahogany and fruit trees and filled with fascinating antiques and paintings. A delicious Bajan lunch is served in this historical building, with dishes such as red snapper pâté and Caribbean chicken curry on the menu.
