D ear I tasca Park D istrict Patrons: Just think, a year ago we did not even have a fall brochure to mail. What has changed at the Itasca Park District as we progress through the COVID 19 Pandemic?

Our fall brochure offerings take the IDPH guidelines into consideration. Our hope is to add new avenues of opportunity to our patrons in indoor and outdoor recreation as we move forward.

Our summer camps returned with great enthusiasm. Our baseball and softball teams have returned to their fields of dreams, the Itasca Dolphins Swim Team hit the water, the new pool bathhouse opened with thoughts of sandy beaches, our dancers took center stage, the gymnasts practiced for the next Olympics and our field trips have gassed up.

Thank you for your support and understanding in our management of an unimaginable situation.

Our Waterpark Family Interactive pool was a victim of a material shortage to rebuild the slides. The only manufacturer is in Canada and parts were delayed, wrong and missing. So we had modified the interactive family pool for the season.

President, Itasca Park District Board of Commissioners

Sincerely,

Linda Aiani

The Itasca Park District takes the Illinois Department of Public Health very seriously and we abide by them. Our protocols have allowed the park district to operate during this Pandemic without interruption.

Itasca Park District Mission Statement

Accessibility for People with Special Needs

The mission of the Itasca Park District is to efficiently and economically provide education, recreation, facilities and open space that are designed to provide health and wellness, social equity and conservation experiences that benefit the community.

The Itasca Park District welcomes the opportunity to assist guests with disabilities to enjoy ALL of our facilities, programs, and services. Any individual with a special need should contact our staff upon registration so that we can make the necessary accommodations. In addition, the Park District provides other specialized services through NEDSRA. Call 630-620-4500 for further information.

Conduct Policy Behavior: Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make Itasca Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. The Park District reserves the right to develop additional rules for particular programs and athletic leagues as deemed necessary by staff and the park board. Participants shall: ■ Show respect to all participants and staff ■ Refrain from using foul language ■ Refrain from causing bodily harm to other participants or staff ■ Refrain from damaging equipment, supplies, and facilities Discipline: Itasca Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant for infraction of

the code of conduct. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit.

ADA Statement The Itasca Park District will not discriminate against any eligible participant on the basis of a disabling condition. We invite any participant with a special need to contact our staff upon registration so that a smooth inclusion may occur. In addition to the programs listed on this page, our district provides additional services for people with disabilities through Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association.

Nothing ruins a good program quicker... than everyone waiting until the last minute to register. Please register one week prior to the first class to avoid disappointment.

Private Lessons and Semi Private Lessons Available with Ms. Darla! Private lessons or Semi Private Lessons are available with Ms. Darla. For more information or to schedule a lesson, please come fill out a request form at the Itasca Rec Center. Lessons are $40 for a 1-hour lesson.

Half of this class will be devoted to ballet and barre work, while the other half will focus on tap. Dancers will develop basic ballet and tap technique. Combinations in both ballet and tap will be introduced so that dancers can experience putting steps together.

Hip Hop This class introduces students to the basic vocabulary and style of hip hop movement. It’s all about a dancer’s personal style and expression. This is a high energy class designed for anyone with a passion to move. Students will need comfortable clothing and either jazz shoes or danceable gym shoes.

Lyrical Many different styles combined produce a new modern version of Ballet and Jazz. Dancers will focus on floor work, patterns of movement and self-expression as well as elements of improvisation. Students will need a leotard and footless tights.

Join Itasca’s Inner Prestige Dance Team! The Itasca Inner Prestige Dance Team is back for its 11th year! There are three levels to our team. Level placement will be decided at auditions. Team members are required to sign on for the entire year. Members are required to attend all scheduled practices each week. The Itasca Park District is proud to offer installment billing to help alleviate the upfront cost of the dance team. 0.5K Beer & Donut Run What is a 0.5K Beer & Donut Run? Some of you may have heard of a 5k, 10k, or even marathons, but what about the 0.5k? We are making your training for this race easier than the rest of them. This is for those who enjoy their Saturday's with a little more laidback style! The race is perfect, just a loop around the Bird Sanctuary; just try not to spill your beer (it's bad for the grass) and finish that donut! There will not be an official timekeeper for the race because we are all winners! Afterwards, kickback and relax on the softball complex fields where there will be more Church Street Brewery beverages for purchase. What does my fee include? Your entry fee reserves your spot on race day and qualifies you for participation in the 0.5k Beer & Donut Run and includes an event t-shirt, event race cup, and (oh, by the way) a pint of racing beer or seltzer from Church Street Brewery and a donut! (Must be registered by September 9th to guarantee t-shirt size) Must be 21+ to participate. IDs will be checked at check-in. After the event, bring your own chairs to enjoy time with friends on the softball fields. Please drink responsibly. Kinky Boots This flashy, sassy, sexy story of big heels invading a small town shook Broadway and was universally adored by critics and audiences. Now it’s Paramount’s turn to try these shoes on for size. Charlie Price is a reluctant shoe maker. Lola is a fierce drag queen. These two could not be any more different, but when they find common ground in shoes, they see a whole new world of possibilities open up to them that will turn their small town upside down, and just might save Charlie’s failing shoe factory. With a Tony Award-winning score by Grammy Award winner Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein (Tony Award-winning star of Broadway’s Hairspray), Kinky Boots tears up the stage and never lets go.
