Chess Scholars

Develop your child's intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Chess has been proven to enhance children's motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will learn under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. *No Class 10/31. (ER)

Magic Class

Children will have a great time as they learn exciting new tricks from the magic staff of Gary Kantor! Kids will be able to entertain family and friends with magic cards, coins, mind-reading, and more. Fee includes class, materials, and a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and always learn new tricks that are age appropriate. Sign up again and again, as new tricks are taught at each session! (ER)

Theater Class

You can’t do a play without teamwork! Students will gain hands-on experience in lights, sound, costume design, and stage management. And of course, there’s acting! Every student will study the fundamentals of Classical Acting. But come showtime, watch your child shine in their own unique artistic way either on stage, in the booth, or managing the behind-the-scenes action in a full-scale mini production. The final class is 45 minutes, plus a 15-minute performance. (ER)

World of Watercolors

Dip your paintbrush into the wonderful world of watercolors! Participants will learn a new watercolor technique each week and practice that technique throughout the class. At the end of the session participants will go home with tons of colorful projects to show off to friends and family! (ER)

Kids Day Off Program

Kids will enjoy their days off of school with themed activities, games, crafts, and a ton of fun with friends at the park district! Some days will include field trips.
