D ear I tasca Park D istrict Patron s:
Our brochure comes out three times a year and I submit my letter months before it is sent to the printer. Well here it is May 26 and I am writing for the fall brochure. School is still in session, the Memorial Day Parade has not stepped off yet and the Waterpark is closed.
A lot of my thoughts are hopes and guesses that everyone had a great summer. Every team won their games, every camp surpassed the expectations, every concert was rain free, every time step was perfection, every dive scored 10, every race was won, every home run was out of the park, every trail was worn down and everyone had the best summer of their lives.

Do you know that the Itasca Dolphins Swim Team celebrated their 50th anniversary this year!
Looking through our summer brochure you saw group pictures, action shots, individual shots, smiles, laughter, friendships and a true sense of team.
The conference standings of 50 years shows how the Dolphins excelled at a sport they truly love. These past swim team members are now parents, grandparents, teachers, doctors, lawyers, managers and retirees!
Itasca Park District Mission Statement
The mission of the Itasca Park District is to efficiently and economically provide education, recreation, facilities and open space that are designed to provide health and wellness, social equity and conservation experiences that benefit the community.
Conduct Policy
Behavior: Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make Itasca Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. The Park District reserves the right to develop additional rules for particular programs and athletic leagues as deemed necessary by staff and the park board. Participants shall:
■ Show respect to all participants and staff
■ Refrain from using foul language
■ Refrain from causing bodily harm to other participants or staff

■ Refrain from damaging equipment, supplies, and facilities

Discipline: Itasca Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant for infraction of the code of conduct. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit.

Credit has to be given to the parents of the team as they lived each event, got their child to practice at 6:30 in the morning, cheered, supported, encouraged and consoled.
For 31 years Coach Dan Witteveen led the Dolphins to an unsurmountable record in their conference. It is with deep regret that we have to say good bye. Dan is hanging up his stopwatch and retiring.
Thank you Dan for giving our teams the opportunity of a lifetime. As we enter our fall season I hope you can look back at what the summer of 2023 meant to you and smile.
Linda Aiani President, Itasca Park District Board of Commissioners
