Experience the musical journey of a lifetime with Handel in Rome, an extraordinary international choral tour that invites passionate singers to perform in some of the Eternal City’s most historic and inspiring sacred spaces. Presented by the New Voice Festival and featuring the acclaimed Chamber Orchestra of Rome, this unforgettable artistic residency offers the rare opportunity to sing where Handel himself once brought his music to life—Santa Maria in Monticello —as well as the majestic churches of Piazza Euclide and Santa Croce in Flaminio. Under the dynamic leadership of Maestro Jason Tramm, participating singers will explore the beauty, drama, and spiritual power of Handel’s masterworks written during his time in Rome, including the majestic Dixit Dominus. You will also have the opportunity to sing on a special filmed recording of Handel’s operatic masterpiece, Giulio Cesare, creating a lasting artistic legacy. ABOUT OUR MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Internationally recognized conductor Jason C. Tramm brings his expressive musicianship and collaborative spirit to his role as Music Director of the New Voice Festival, where he leads performances and fosters meaningful partnerships between emerging singers, composers, and industry professionals in both New York City and Rome. Praised by the Huffington Post for his “Italianate passion,” Maestro Tramm’s career spans the operatic, symphonic, and choral worlds. He serves as Artistic Director of the MidAtlantic Philharmonic Orchestra, Executive and Artistic Director of Light Opera of New Jersey, General and Artistic Director of New Rochelle Opera, and Music Director of the Taghkanic and Putnam Chorales. His 2009 PBS broadcast of Verdi’s Requiem: Live from Ocean Grove earned an Emmy nomination, and his guest conducting engagements have taken him across the United States and throughout Europe. A dedicated educator and advocate for the next generation of artists, Dr. Tramm is Associate Professor and Director of Choral Activities at Seton Hall University, where he was named University Faculty Teacher of the Year. He also serves as Director of Music in Residence at the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, where he leads large-scale choral and orchestral programs each summer. www.JasonTramm.net

Santa Maria in Monticelli

Chiesa Santa Maria in Monticelli is a stunning medieval church located in the heart of Rome, known for its serene atmosphere and beautiful artistic decorations. Visitors often praise its rich history, including the impressive frescoes and sculptures attributed to renowned artists. The church contains a baroque fresco of the Flagellation attributed to Antonio Carracci; a 13thcentury painted wooden crucifix attributed to Pietro Cavallini; a Madonna and child with saints by Sebastiano Conca; and a Head of the Redeemer in mosaic fragments of the 12th century. Near the sanctuary of the church is the contemporary shrine of Blessed César de Bus, the French founder of the “Priests of Christian Doctrine” and the patron saint of catechists.

Piazza Euclide

The Basilica of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Parioli stands as a remarkable architectural gem, seamlessly blending spiritual significance with visual grandeur. Nestled within Piazza Euclide, this iconic church captures the essence of Roman religious art and community spirit. The central altarpiece draws attention to beautifully draped angels positioned on either side, creating an atmosphere rich in spirituality and artistic depth. This revered place not only serves as a parish but also acts as a significant meeting point for locals looking for solace or inspiration amidst their daily lives—truly making it worth visiting for anyone seeking peace or beauty in Rome.

Santa Croce al Flaminio

Santa Croce in Via Flaminia is a basilica church dedicated to the Holy Cross on the Via Flaminia in Rome, Italy. It was first built in 1913 by the architect Aristide Leonori for Pope Pius X, in celebration of the 1600th anniversary of the Edict of Milan. In the style of a Roman basilica, it has a mosaic-decorated facade, a portico with six Doric columns and a mosaic by Biagio Biagetti, a five-storey bell tower and a three-aisled nave divided by six columns of Bavarian granite on each side. Monumental and simple at the same time, the interior of the Basilica is characterised by three naves separated from each other by rows of pillars with an octagon base.

Gladiator Day at Gruppo Storico Romano

At the headquarters of the Gruppo Storico Romano, located in the heart of the Appia Antica — the most important road of Ancient Rome — visitors will embark on an unforgettable journey into the world of the gladiators.

The experience begins with a guided tour of the Museum of the Roman Legionary, where guests can admire authentic reconstructions of Roman armor, weapons, shields, and countless artifacts illustrating the military, civil, and religious life of Ancient Rome.

After the visit, participants will train with real gladiators, learning combat techniques in a completely safe and entertaining way. The training culminates in a small tournament held inside the arena — where courage and skill will be put to the test!

To conclude the day, it’s time for the professionals: a thrilling live show with real gladiator combats, where the audience itself will decide the winner… and whether the defeated warrior deserves VITA AUT MORS.

Trip to Tivoli

Tivoli, just 30 km from Rome, is a jewel of the Roman countryside celebrated for its authentic atmosphere and historic views. Founded in  1215 B.C., located on a dominant dominant and strategic position on the banks of the Aniene River, preserves millennia-old testimonies such as the Temples of the Acropolis, the Historic, Villa Gregoriana and the two UNESCO heritage sites, Villa Adriana e Villa d’Este. Some landmarks to visit on this excursion are:

Villa d’Este: Renowned for its elaborate Renaissance gardens, fountains, and water features.

Villa Adriana: A vast complex of ruins that was the country estate of Roman Emperor Hadrian.

Villa Gregoriana: A 19th-century park featuring dramatic waterfalls and ancient ruins.

Thermal springs: Natural thermal baths can be found in the suburb of Bagni di Tivoli.

Historic center: Features cobblestone streets, remnants of ancient walls, and old temples.

ABOUT OUR OPERA

Experience the operatic journey of a lifetime in a new concept of Handel’s Giulio Cesare, with an all-female principal cast in an extraordinary Film Version in the gorgeous Piazza Euclide Church, featuring the acclaimed Chamber Orchestra of Rome. The opera will be directed and conceived by festival founder, Andrea DelGiudice and the renowned stage director, Yuri Napoli. The production is presented by the New Voice Festival, and conducted by Maestro Jason Tramm. The concept is a reimagining of the characters with strong female identities, emphasizing their motivations and relationships by highlighting themes of power, betrayal, and ambition through female perspectives. Let’s create a lasting legacy together!

ABOUT OUR HOSTS ANDREA DELGIUDICE

Andrea Delguidice is an Internationally renowned soprano and voice teacher, has performed throughout Europe and the US in leading roles with operatic stars such as Placido Domingo. Andrea also recorded in over 200 major films and animated features in Rome, Italy, including Walt Disney, Buena Vista, RAI Television and Sundance Films. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of The New Voice Festival www.thenewvoicefestival.com in New York City and Rome, Italy. Her highly in-demand New York City Voice Studio boasts leading stars currently on Broadway (The Outsiders, Death Becomes Her), Masquerade (Phantom of the Opera), Pirates of Penzance, Willy Wonka, Hamilton, Harmony, Dear Evan Hansen) and the Metropolitan Opera. Andrea is an award - winning director, known for producing new works inspired by historical heroines. She was the 2024 Winner of The National Opera Association Award for the double bill of her new imagining of Puccini’s Suor Angelica and the world premiere of Pietá, its prequel, composed by Jake Landau, with DelGiudice as co-librettist. Past productions include Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, with its sequel & Aeterna composed by Jake Landau; her conceptual productions of Verdi’s La Traviata, Bizet’s Carmen; Puccini’s La Boheme; Mozart’s Don Giovanni; and Hansel and Gretel in Vegas. YURI NAPOLI

Yuri Napoli is a director, actor, and producer. He is a founding member and part of the board of the “Performing Artists From Zeffirelli Foundation” group. Additionally, he is the founder and artistic director of “IDS - Imprenditori di Sogni,” which stands among the most active and important cultural organizations in Italy. His works have been staged in Italy, Spain, Germany, France, and Russia. He collaborates with the most significant international cultural institutions such as the Ministry of Culture of Italy, the United Nations, and, under the High Patronage of the European Parliament, serves as the artistic director of “Natale di Roma”, recognized among the top ten spring events worldwide (as mentioned by the BBC). He is the founder, director, and head of the teaching staff at the Italian Drama School, one of the most prestigious acting schools in Rome.

HOTELS

The Handel in Rome Tour includes lodging in a 4-star hotel in the heart of Rome. Your payment includes lodging in a double room. A select number of single rooms are available for an $800 supplemental fee.

CONCERTS

Throughout your nine days in Rome, you will perform three memorable concerts in some of the most iconic, historial churches throughout the city.

ACTIVITIES

Your tour activities include participation in Gladiator Day (both training and the final performance) and a day trip to the beautiful city of Tivoli. In addition, you will have several blocks of free time to visit other historical sites in Rome.

MEALS

Your tour includes breakfast and dinner each day. Lunch is independent, and you will always have an ample lunch break to explore Rome.

Flights are not included in the price of the tour.
