Chapter 1.

Introduction

1.1 Safety Warnings

This manual contains important instructions that you should follow during installation and maintenance. Please read all Instructions before operating the equipment and save it for future reference.

DANGER! The equipment contains lethal voltages, all repairs and service should be performed by authorized service personnel only.

CAUTION! 1. Risk of electric shock. Battery circuit is not isolated from AC input. Hazardous voltages might exist between battery terminals and ground. Test before touching. 2. Batteries can present a risk of electric shock or burn from high short-circuit current. Observe proper precautions. Servicing should be performed by qualified service personnel with knowledge of batteries and required precautions. Keep unauthorized personnel away from batteries. 3. Dispose batteries properly. Refer to your local codes for disposal requirements. 4. Never dispose of batteries in fire. Batteries may explode when exposed to flame.

Chapter 2. Installation 2.1 Environment Requirements

Ambient temperature: 0℃~+40℃; Relative humidity: 0%RH~95%RH, no condensation; Cooling mode: air-cooling; Verticality: no shock with orthogonal rake not exceeding 5º.

CAUTION! Do not install the cabinet in a low-temperature environment until the inside and outside of the cabinet are absolutely dry (hazard of electric shock)

2.2 Inspecting the equipment

The packing of equipment are wooden case and carton. If any equipment has been damaged during shipment, keep the shipping wood container and packing materials for the carrier or place of purchase and file a claim for shipping damage. If you discover damage after acceptance, file a claim for concealed damage. Then send a copy of the damage claim to your service representative.

2.3 Unpacking the cabinet

Unpack the cabinet and accessories as follow. Unpack the wood container Check the equipment and accessories against the packing list.(table3) The cabinet and battery models are packaged in individual cartons. [3] Copyright AST 2010

Chapter 3. Equipment Maintenance 3.1 Battery Daily Maintenance

1.If the equipment has not been used for a long period, it should be charged for more than ten hours. 2.Before operating the equipment, please charge it for ten hours. The equipment can still be used during charging.

If power failure occurs at the same time, this discharge time may be under standard

value. 3.Normally, battery should be discharged and charged every four to six months. First discharge until shutdown then charge. The charging time for standard device should be no less than ten hours. 4.At high temperature region, the battery should be charged and discharged once every two months. The charging time for standard device should be no less than ten hours. 5.Batteries of different capacity, type, and produced by different manufacturers should not be mixed when using. 6.When cleaning battery case, only use duster cloth and clear water, do not use oil substance or organic solvent such as gasoline and thinner, etc. 7.Battery and batteries should be kept away from ignition source as well as all electrical equipment that may easily cause spark, to avoid causing unnecessary loss. 8.During the use of battery unit equipped for UPS, regularly check if the charger is in good condition to prevent the battery from being overcharged or undercharged, and to avoid excessive discharge of battery. After discharging, immediately (no later than 24 hours) perform complete charging, only after then will the re-discharged be allowed. Never re-discharge if the battery is not completely charged, otherwise it will cause decrease in battery capacity or even damage battery. 9 .When not using UPS, please turn off it to avoid causing long-time battery discharge after commercial power failure.

3.2 Battery Changing

When changing storage battery, pay attention to the following: 1.Do not throw battery into fire to avoid explosion. 2.Do not open or disassemble battery as the electrolyte is harmful to skin and eyes. 3.Properly recycle the battery according to relevant instructions thereon. 4.Replace the used battery with new ones that are of same type and grade. 5.Replace the entire battery unit, do not mix the old ones with the new ones. 6.Dangerous voltage may exist between battery terminal and the ground. Test before touching.

3.3 Recycling the used battery

Contact your local recycling or hazardous waste center for information on proper disposal of the used battery.

Caution Do not discard the battery in the trash. This product contains sealed, lead-acid batteries. For more information, contact your local recycling/reuse, hazardous waste center.
