NEWSLETTER FIFA World Cup at Hamilton The Hamilton International School is so excited about the event of the year!

We are so happy that Qatar is hosting the World Cup and bringing people from around the world together to celebrate their love of the sport.

Before we started our break, we had students from different grade levels participate in a Fifa World Cup 2022 Exhibition at school. They really amazed everyone with their incredible 3D modules of the stadiums, which were on display throughout the school.

Football is the only sport that all love- child to old.

MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF INCLUSION Dear Hamilton Family, November has been a busy but exciting month as we counted down the days bringing us closer to the FIFA World Cup. As we reach the end of a very busy few months, we wish to thank you for all your support with all events which took place at Hamilton this Academic Year to date. Your contributions are most welcomed and appreciated. Many achievements have been celebrated and we look forward to many more on our return to school in January.

Our final month at school before the Winter break included some amazing activities!

The excitement for the World Cup and the atmosphere could be felt in every corner of the school and we celebrated with each member of the Hamilton School wearing Football Jerseys every Thursday. We also hosted an impressive 3D exhibition of the FIFA stadiums created by students in many grade levels.

These were enjoyed in a range of areas across the school. In the final days leading up to the break our students enjoyed a Mini World Cup and skill sessions. The students and staff all joined in and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Our secondary school students not only created 3D models of Qatar’s magnificent stadiums but also worked hard to recreated models of medieval forts and castles. Very impressive indeed!

We were busy with many grade level exit points across the Primary School. KG1 shared their learning on ‘Imagine that’, Grade 2 celebrated ‘Footprints from the past’, Grade 4 showcased ‘Ancient Greece’, and Grade 5 explored the prospect of living on Mars with their ‘Mission to Mars’ entry point. Throughout the newsletter you can enjoy photographs of the above.

Our Inclusion Department hosted stay and play mornings which were a huge success and lots of fun. During November, our parents joined us in school for a healthy picnic and enjoyed playing together with both their children and their peers.

Thank you for attending our recent Parent Teacher Conferences and for supporting your child’s learning journey at Hamilton.

Wishing you all a restful holiday. For those travelling we wish you a safe journey and for those staying for the World Cup, enjoy! Please be reminded that the school resumes on 2nd January 2023 when we look forward to welcoming each member of our Hamilton community back to school.

KG1 Before the break our KG1 students had an exit point for our topic 'Imagine That.'

The children were asked to come in dressed as artists or in their favorite color! Our families were invited in to view the children's artwork in a walking gallery. The children enjoyed sharing their artwork and discussing different colors and shapes they used, with their families. We are excited to see what other artwork they will create in the New Year.

GRADE 2 Our Grade 2 students were very immersed in their thematic topic on "Footprints from the Past".

This fascinating topic gave children a chance to see the world that existed 65 million years ago. They explored how and why the earth changed from prehistoric times and challenged their understanding of dinosaur extinction. This topic provided lots of cross-curricular learning opportunities for the children, such as by sketching and making models of dinosaurs using clay and cardboard, they focused on Art. History provided them with learning about different time periods. In Geography, they learned about continental drift and the different types of rocks. In Science, they explored teeth, diets and food chains. They also used their math skills to measure the lengths of dinosaurs and compare them to the size of human. Our students ended this unit with their very own exhibition which showcased some of their amazing learning.

GRADE 5 Will living on Mars in the future be a reality for humans?

Our Grade 5 students had an incredible experience becoming space astronauts as part of their Mission to Mars Entry Point.

Students took part in a hydroponics experiment, tasted space food, and explored the atmosphere on Mars using virtual reality.

DESIGN TECHNOLOGY R O S S G I B B O N S Design and Technology Teacher

KEYCHAIN PROJECT Our Grade 6 students were given the task to design an entire project from start to finish.

They were given design constraints at the start of the project, and then with their limited resources they designed a project.

Our students designed amazing keychains using graphics software, a laser cutter, sandpaper, lacquer spray and hand tools.

The process involved designing it, making it, and then finishing the keychain.

Through this process our students learnt the importance of using a design process to achieve the best possible outcome.

SOCIAL STUDIES A D A M G O U H A Social Studies Teacher

MIDDLE AGES In Social Studies, our students studied the Middle Ages and at the end of the unit focused on castles.

To consolidate their knowledge of the evolution of castles they were tasked with creating their very own model castle where they then presented and explained the different characteristics to their class.

s ' t e L c i n c i P Our Inclusion department held a healthy eating breakfast picnic before the beak.

Parents had the opportunity to join their children for an amazing morning picnic.

They brought healthy breakfast food and snack and enjoyed their time communicating and sharing their experiences with on another.

In the Inclusion Department we care a lot about building healthy social and communication skills for our students and parents.
