Grant Community High School and the National Career Cluster Initiative Aligning with the Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness Act, GCHS is publishing this Career Pathway Guide as an introduction for students about potential careers. Using the National Career Cluster Initiative, the Career Pathway Guide helps students identify areas of interest and possible courses of study while at Grant and beyond to support career goals. The Na-

Grant Community High School and the National Career Cluster Initiative tional Career Cluster Initiative groups sixteen different career clusters into five major educational groups. Once a student has indicated interest in a certain career cluster, the Career Pathway Guide shows students skills or interests for this cluster, potential college programs of study, careers within the cluster with median salary, potential job growth over the next ten years, and entry-level education requirements. The most important aspect of the Career Pathway Guide is that it also indicates potential programs of study or course pathways for the career cluster along with extracurricular activities that could be beneficial.

In order to help students begin an exploration into a career cluster and course pathway, included in the Guide is the RIASEC Test which can help identify possible career clusters based on student interest. As students begin to explore these career clusters and course pathways, students should also meet with their counselors and the Career and Community Partnership Specialist.
