mission and aims
Director
ISL was founded in 1962 as a not-for-profit, co-educational day school to serve the expatriate and local communities of Lausanne. Facing the French-speaking Alps, the school is highly regarded as a leading school in the region. The International School of Lausanne is committed to excellence in education; it strives to fulfil the unique potential of each student in a supportive and challenging holistic learning environment that prepares him or her for continuing education and an active and responsible role in a multicultural world.
The student body at the International School of Lausanne consists of over 880 students from the ages of 3 to 18. It is comprised of a Primary School, a Middle School and a High School with approximately 68 students in each year group. There are over 72 nationalities represented within the student body, the largest groups being the USA, the UK, Switzerland and France. ISL’s high school faculty consists of approximately 65 teachers who originate from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Lebanon, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The student/teacher ratio in the High School is 5:1, and the average class size is approximately 13.
