The Science of Eradication: Malaria leadership development course provides participants with a multidisciplinary perspective on malaria disease eradication. SCIENCE OF ERADICATION: MALARIA - CORE MODULE Participants will gain knowledge and skills to develop and direct malaria control, elimination and eradication programs through an understanding of: - past disease eradication efforts - malaria biology and epidemiology - vector and parasite biology - new tools for eradication - behavior economics
- supply chain management - impact of social, political, and environmental factors - surveillance techniques - principles of applied modeling - communication and advocacy
MALARIA: BREAKING THE CYCLE (TOOLS, STRATEGIES, AND IMPLEMENTATION) - ADVANCED MODULE Participants will examine existing tools to reduce and prevent transmission, diagnostics to prevent or interrupt transmission, changes in transmission patterns, current tools for low and moderate transmission, incorporate malaria risk-perception and human behavior into elimination strategic guidelines, and explore transmission blocking vaccine interventions.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND This leadership development course is designed for individuals with the potential to advance to leadership roles in malaria in the next 2-5 years. The nomination-based application process is targeted at global public health professionals with advanced degrees, private sector professionals, academic faculty, scientists and researchers, malaria control program administrators, and field-based personnel.
