On 27 May, our school took part in its firstever football tournament with both a team
from the PYP and MYP. ISD played against two well-known British international schools, both located in Budapest. Our school team was excited to see what would happen during the day. Friday morning came. All players present, Tshirts will be distributed. Mr. Béla Makra, who works in our school’s office as a Facility Specialist and brings a wealth of experience to the PYP team, is with us. Everyone speaks highly of the challenge ahead. Our school principal, Mr. Tom McLean, shows up at nine o'clock in the morning. At first, it wasn't clear if he was just arriving for the team meeting or accompanying the teams for the day. Both claims are true, as, after a motivational meeting, the exhilarated team set off with the Director, Mr. Tom McLean, Mr. Tamás Botrágyi, Christopher Suprenant, and Mr. Béla Makra, the media club crew, and of course the MYP and PYP teams.

Both of our teams broke records in the history of ISD, the PYP team even won a match against the BBIS in a ratio of 8:0. At the end of the day the MYP team took the field, the score was tied until halftime when our new goalkeeper Robert had a save that failed and was kicked in the goal by the opposing team captain. Later on, we are in position, the ball is thrown in by Dominik, handled by Dénes, and finally gets stuck in one of the backs. All the boys fought very well. Mr. Tom McLean evaluated after the final results: “We are not a team, yet, but we can become one. You (PYP and MYP teams) all did absolutely great, really, really great. To lose, I think we lost four goals each half, but I think, that’s not such a big deal, we just did not have the same strength of dept as they had. I was not got anywhere near as much to think that. I know it is tough losing, but honestly, I am so proud of the way you behave, the type of fight, and really we had chances to be able to score goals but also win the game. It wasn’t easy for them. So you should be proud of yourself. I’m delighted. It’s a starting point and it's fantastic. So, congratulations. ” We would also like to congratulate all participants. It was an enlightening experience.
