Holistic Learning
At ISB, “We all want to learn more”. Learning at ISB is a journey where students follow their unique path to develop active, enquiring minds and effective lifelong learning skills. In this journey, students from 3 to 19 years follow the widely-recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) programme.
Junior School (Ages 3-11): IB Primary Years Programme (English and English-German)
Middle School (Ages 12-14): IB Middle Years Programme
Senior School (Ages 15-19): IB Middle Years Programme, IB Diploma Programme and Diploma Courses
Intercultural Awareness
Our students celebrate their own cultural heritage while exploring the rich diversity of others. By considering multiple perspectives, they develop tolerance, respect, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Multilingual communication
Multilingualism is a cornerstone of intercultural understanding. Our Dual Language Programme in Junior School allows students to learn in English and German simultaneously, As they progress, students can also study German, French, or Spanish as additional languages, broadening their communication skills.
Digital Learning
We integrate technology to make learning engaging and innovative. Students use age-appropriate digital tools collaborate, solve problems, and apply their learning in meaningful ways, preparing them to navigate a technologydriven world.
Interconnected Learning
Our learning approach connects new and existing knowledge to spark critical thinking. Understanding how subjects relate to one another leads to a deeper understanding, allowing students to apply their insights to real world situations.

Physical and Mental Wellbeing
We understand the importance of supporting the whole child, not only to excel academically, but also to thrive socially, emotionally and physically.
Through age-appropriate Wellbeing and Physical Education programmes, we guide students to build friendships, work in teams, resolve conflicts, regulate emotions, and develop empathy and self-confidence. These essential skills prepare them for life beyond the classroom.
“Learning at ISB is a life-long journey well beyond the classroom, where students develop emotionally, physically, creatively and socially.”

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is a challenging, university-preparatory course that challenges students academically, while fostering social, emotional, and physical growth. With guidance from teachers and university counsellors, students explore their interests, set goals, and prepare for life after graduation. As an alternative, students may choose a combination of IB Diploma Programme courses and/or ISB courses.
Our curriculum offers over 60+ subjects, providing students with a wealth of choices to tailor their learning to their individual interests and future ambitions. In addition, all students engage in three core elements:
- Extended Essay: An in-depth exploration of a topic of personal interest connected to one of the student’s subjects or disciplines.
- Theory of Knowledge: A reflective course that challenges students to examine the nature of knowledge and how we understand the world.
- Creativity, Activity, Service: A programme that fosters personal growth, creativity, and a sense of community, encouraging students to understand their role in relation to others.
This balanced approach ensures that students are well-rounded, confident, and ready for life after school.
