In these upcoming days, you may feel overwhelmed, scared, or anxious, but do not worry as you can always go to ISA to ask for support. We decided to update the previous booklet as there are some new changes in our community, and we hope this booklet can help you establish and integrate yourself in your new community. Stay tuned for our activities and information through following us on our social media. This way, you can take note of the important things that are happening around you. Also, make sure that you join our activities in the future, as these activities are meant to be a support system for the international student to communicate, adapt, and further enhancing your connection in a foreign country. ISA is the pioneer and main student led support system for international students, but this is all thanks to all of you! So help us by being active in international society and assisting those who need our assistance. A foreign country may be scary at first, but when you find your community and family, it will only feel like your second home.

To register for a monthly plan you will need an HKID. During the first month before you get your HKID, it would be best to use a pre paid SIM card. The pre paid SIM cards can be purchased at convenience stores and the sales centre of mobile phone carriers. If you decide to get a monthly plan afterwards, you can still keep your number. Of course, if you do not want to sign a contract with any of the phone carriers, you can always stick to the pre paid SIM card (China Telecom) (Telstra) (Telstra) (Hutchison Whampoa) (Vodafone) (PCCW) 3943 Calls from CUHK usually start with: Be careful when receiving calls stay alert from phone deception! Academic Honesty

CUHK is VERY STRICT on academic honesty!

The Chinese University of Hong Kong places a very high importance on honesty in academic work submitted by students, and adopts a policy of ZERO TOLERANCE on academic dishonesty. While 'academic dishonesty' is the overall name, there are several subcategories including plagiarism, undeclared multiple submissions, cheating in tests and examinations, as well as all other acts of academic dishonesty. Any related offence will lead to disciplinary action including termination of studies at the University www.cuhk.edu.hk/policy/academichonesty/ https://academic2.veriguide.org/portalcuhk/

The VeriGuide plagiarism detection system was developed by staff in CUHK Most assignments such as written reports and essays may require a VeriGuide plagiarism proof of proper source citing. These documents are uploaded to the VeriGuide site which then generates a slip (PDF file) that needs to be signed declaring the many terms and agreements of the VeriGuide that you as a student agree to when submitting the document.

Other than the typical franchised buses, there are also the public light buses, commonly referred as the 'minibuses'. The two types of light buses are distinguished by their colour. Passengers wishing to board a minibus can simply hail it on the street similar to a taxi, although Specific light bus stops are available. A green minibus is similar to the franchised public buses. It operates on a government-regulated timetable, a fixed route, and a fixed fare. The exact change must be tendered, and Octopus card payment service Is widely available. On the other hand, the red minibus is a cross between a bus and a taxi Unlike the green ones, there are no fixed stops in between the termini nor a fixed timetable. Cash is used to pay the fare instead of the Octopus card, but change will be available. It is worth noting that after the operating hours of the MTR and public buses, only red minibuses offer transportation to CUHK. These buses can be referred to from the table below:
