Beliefs in Action: Balanced Lives

At ISA, we believe in nurturing not only strong academic foundations, but also the personal and social skills students need to thrive beyond the classroom. Our final Beliefs in Action theme of the school year, Balanced Lives, celebrates how students learn to manage their time, make informed choices, and prioritise their wellbeing alongside their classroom learning.

Through academics, extracurricular activities, athletics, the arts, service projects, and everyday moments, students of all ages explore what it means to live a balanced life. This collection of stories highlights how ISA learners engage deeply in both their passions and their responsibilities, enabling them to develop confidence and resilience. As this school year ends, these highlights serve as a reminder of how learning thrives when students are supported in leading balanced, purposeful lives.

Designing, Building, and Playing with Purpose in the Pre-School Rabbits

Even the youngest learners benefit from opportunities to make informed choices. Over the past several weeks, the PreSchool Rabbits class has been fully immersed in a design inquiry project that and units. Their challenge? To reimagine how to use their sensory table

Throughout the process, students practiced their creative thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills, learning how to turn their ideas into action through play. As they shared, experimented, and revised, they also strengthened key social-emotional skills, such as collaborating with their peers, managing setbacks, and celebrating the progress they had made.

This joyful, hands-on experience not only enriched their classroom environment, but showed how even early childhood learners can begin to develop the confidence and capabilities that define a balanced life.

PYP Exhibition: Sharing Passion and Progress

The Grade 5 PYP Exhibition is one of the most significant milestones in a student’s Primary Years Programme journey. Over the course of several weeks, students dive deep into self-directed inquiries, exploring issues they’re passionate about and demonstrating the skills they’ve developed throughout their time in the PYP.

This year’s presentations were a reflection of students’ curiosity, resilience, and growth. They posed meaningful questions, conducted research, connected with experts, and translated their findings into action. Each project was as unique as the student behind it, with examples of projects ranging from sustainability and social justice to mental health and innovation.

Presenting their work to peers, parents, and staff brought with it a mixture of nerves, excitement, and pride for these learners. Supported by mentors from across the school, they navigated everything from time management and public speaking to teamwork and problem-solving, demonstrating skills that will serve them well far beyond the classroom.

The PYP Exhibition was more than just a presentation: it was a celebration of student agency, learning, and voice. Well done, Grade 5!

Ghana Fundraising Concert Brings ISA Community Together

Creative Voice on Display: ‘Exposure’ DP Visual Arts Exhibition

Fundraising and service learning are long-standing elements of the ISA experience. In May, ISA hosted the latest edition of our annual Ghana Fundraising Concert, a community tradition dating back to 2007.

Held in the ISA World Theatre, the evening featured musical performances from student choirs, percussion ensembles, and the parent and teacher group Marimba Mania. The concert is held annually in support of the Nunya Academy, a music school in Ghana that continues to grow with direct help from ISA’s contributions. The event offers students a platform to showcase their musical growth and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our global community.

This year, the ISA community raised an impressive €4,582.84, all of which will go directly to Nunya. Congratulations to all of the performers, and thank you to the PTA and everyone who helped bring this tradition to life once again.

The annual DP Visual Arts Exhibition, Exposure, offered a powerful expression of student voice, creativity, and individuality, marking the culmination of two years of artistic growth within the IB Diploma Programme.

Filling the Upper School Corridor with life and colour, the exhibition featured a broad and deeply personal range of student work, from large-scale paintings and installations to mixed media pieces, sketchbooks, and written reflections. Every element, from concept to curation, was led by the students themselves, reflecting the thematic investigations they have pursued across two years of inquiry.

Visitors were not only invited to view the finished artworks but also to engage with the creative process through students’ Process Portfolios and Comparative Studies. These often-overlooked components revealed the depth of research, experimentation, and cultural exploration that shape the final pieces, evidence of a curriculum that values both rigour and reflection.

Throughout the exhibition, students spoke with confidence and clarity about their artistic intentions, challenges, and discoveries. Their ability to articulate personal themes, ranging from identity and belonging to perception and memory, showcased not just their development as artists, but as thoughtful, reflective individuals.

As one attendee noted, “I thought I knew these students until I saw their artwork. It opened up a whole new dimension.”

With support from their teachers and the wider school community, DP Visual Arts students demonstrated how creativity can be a powerful vehicle for self-expression, critical thinking, and connection. Exposure was a celebration of the voice and vision of young artists learning to make sense of the world around them.

ISA Book Sale Raises Over €9,100 To Support Global Education

ISA’s annual Room to Read Book Sale is always a highlight for our school and this year’s event was no different. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our community, over €9,117.40 was raised to support Room to Read’s mission of increasing access to education in developing countries around the world. Hundreds of gently used books found new homes, and students, staff, and parents came together to support a powerful cause.

This year’s event was especially meaningful, as Room to Read celebrated its 25th anniversary and honoured our school by including us in their special global recognition list ‘25 Chapters to Celebrate 25 Years’. In their words:

world, providing teacher training and learning materials, and supporting the printing of books in students’ native languages.

Room to Read’s mission “world change starts with educated children” aligns closely with our commitment to educating for international understanding. The Book Sale offers our students not only the opportunity to promote literacy but also to engage in meaningful action that fosters their empathy and sense of global citizenship.

“Our story would not be the same without your chapter.”

Over the past 13 years, the ISA community has raised funds that have had a significant impact, contributing to the education of children across the
