To design an island that is self sufficient and adaptable to human needs, having an evolutionary phasing capacity using a series of what-if scenarios whilst keeping the identity of the Hong Kong urban fabric.
Hong Kong’s topography and climate creates a unique situation for the pedestrian experience with connections between buildings, open spaces, transportation and commercial hubs at various elevations. It becomes a three dimensional network.
Its zoning laws aim to protect its forests and jungles and the various biodiversity within creating, a threshold between the built environment and nature.
Using Grasshopper scripts to generate zoning and programming iterations of landforms created using various AI programs; MidJourney, Ostagram, Runway ML and Dall-E we are able to analyse and study for the best possible scenario.

Our interventions have targeted areas that have been neglected in the vicinity of Hunts Point \for so long. Dead spaces and soft sites throughout the area will need to be raised to new heights with the integration of new activated green spaces in order to develop Hunts Point into a sustainable and renewed multi-purpose zone.
As a result of our analysis we found that there are large amounts of pollution in the air due to the high amount of vehicular traffic that range from freight trucks moving in and out of the FDC to passenger vehicles fulfilling daily activities. To combat and reduce these emissions, we are introducing interventions such as moving the Bruckner Expressway exits adjacent to Leggett Ave, as well as a canopy underneath the expressway that will provide sound and vibrational mitigation qualities while bringing an aesthetically pleasing element that provides access to environmentally friendly public spaces.
To activate Hunts Point as a whole, we will be reinvigorating the Central Business District to accommodate projected populations for 2050. This will be achieved through the introduction of new mixed use buildings by maximizing build outs through the use of both geothermal and passive heating and cooling systems along Hunts Point Avenue and E163rd Street.
In order to reduce heat islands, we will create a network of pocket parks throughout Hunts Point that provide spaces allocated for sporting fields, community gardens, local food trucks and market places directly affiliated with the FDC to bring fresh food to a once food desert.

The urban fabric of the “The Iron Triangle” Queens-Willets Point area at present can be described, according to Andrea Khan’s Defining Urban Site – 5 concepts for urban thinking, as a “place of arrival or fixed address” rather than a “point of departure to places unknown”. Citi Field acts as the main point of interest of the Queens-Willets point area, creating a temporal influx of population density during events held at the stadium and a lack thereof when there isn’t.
The World’s Fair Marina, designed as a waterfront promenade is all but abandoned with a literal barrier(fence) and metaphorical barrier (the highway) discouraging pedestrians from walking or biking to use the area due to the high flow of traffic making it dangerous.
The site in its “post-apocalyptic” appearance is zoned for industrial use with barely any working sewage, unpaved sidewalks and roads, making it susceptible to flooding during heavy storms.
The key to successfully designing or recovering public spaces is to achieve a series of ingredients that enhance their use as meeting places. Regardless of their scale, some important tips are designing for people’s needs, the human scale, a mix of uses, multi functionality and flexibility, comfort and safety and integration to the urban fabric.

This is a story about the logistics of Hicksville. There are different ways the site can affect the purpose of the spaces created within them. Within this research is the understanding of the economy surrounding the site. From 1640 to the future, our goal was to understand the money around the land, explore its rhizomatic nature and how it affects . So we took what information we could get in order to graphically represent how all the economic factors factor into how we decide what goes into our design. Design is built from everything around us. All things that humans experience directly and indirectly have to be accounted for when thinking about the design.
“Unlike trees or their roots, the rhizome connects any point to any other point. .. It has neither beginning nor end, but always a middle (milieu) from which it grows and overspills, [constituting] linear multiplicities.” a quote by Deleuze and Guattari from “Agency of Mapping” talking about the rhizomatic nature of mapping that we tried to mirror while researching the economy surrounding the site. Our mapping attempts to compare many aspects of the reach of all surfaces that the economy touches and how they all affect each other and the people living in the communities in and around the site. We study the factors to understand that all things humans experience directly and indirectly have to be accounted for in what goes into our design.

Nature and Science have been studied over centuries, using one to help define and understand the other and the world around us.
I designed this building to be self sustainable through the uses of 4 different types of roof paneling;
Green Roof Panels – to help collect water for the HVAC system and indoor botanical garden
Solar Roof Panels – to produce energy to power the building
Concrete Roof Panels – interacts with the creek water and is used to study the waters effect on it over time
Copper Roof Paneling – to cool the building naturally Research;
Wet Lab – Study the particles that make up the water in the Westchester Creek in an effort to find an efficient way to neutralize the water.
Dry Lab – Studies the plantae around the Westchester creek to understand ways to protect the residents from future flooding in the area with nature.
