PHILOSOPHY

I create to better the human connection and experience.

I am privileged with the knowledge of how an environment is formed. I think of its resiliency in concept and application and how it will influence for years to come. Senses are a key part to the success of design. As a physical environment what will my designs convey? Knowing the sensitivities I hold, I strive to create for a balance of stimulation. I want the space to be an extension of its environment.

I want to create a space to coexist with the human experience and subsequently elevate it.

t cep n o The inner grain patterns within a nutmeg seed influenced the shape of the walls and flow of the space.

This concept came from research into Dopper’s Foundation to help Nepal have clean and sanitary water. Nutmeg is Nepal’s most frequent export.

With a location inside South Station, design features implemented to maximize occupant flow were the doors on all sides paired with glass walls. This also included making the entire space ADA accessible. The use of bright colors related back to the concept, but were purposely positioned to attract the eye if a passerby.

The concept for this piece centered around the idea of unification. It acts as an accent to the environment it possesses. I took inspiration from the Romsdal Museum; from its silhouette, its characteristics of sharp corners and straight edges and its coloring. The museum was design to be an extension of nature and its surrounding.

Designed with influenced by the herb, rosemary, its linear and intersecting lines can be found through the floor plan in placement of walls and doors and custom fixtures

The site for The Veteran Connection is 115 Water Street, Plymouth MA. According to Veterans Affairs, the Cape has a high population density of veterans, Plymouth allows for a shorter travel distance than Boston facilities. According to the VA, Plymouth is already home to Primary Care Services and Women’s Comprehensive Primary Care and Gynecology.

Plymouth has Veteran support facilities in the area, a veteran specific living facility would be a great addition to the city.

concept Rosemary has been linked to mental health benefits including stress relief and memory enhancement. In the research article noted below, inhaling rosemary decreased students’ heart rate during a test. These benefits could help people with stress disorders associated with serving in the military. This concept would be implemented into the building in gardens, as well as the straight lines of the herb will be mirrored in circulation paths in the building.

As a group, we ensured daylighting was a key factor through all spaces.

Clerestories were implemented within all walled areas to allow light to reach all parts of the building. Creating a bright and inviting space was the goal.

t cep n o Japanese Rock Gardens is a physical and conceptualized portrayal of a journey. The raked patterns depict a stream of water flowing through life.

Pillars in the sand and gravel represent the obstacles that make their way into our paths and how we continue passed them.
