The following work is a selection of studio based projects from my undergraduate pursuit.

My general focus for each project was to explore different methods of design, while overlapping both digital and analoug methods.

Landscape architecture has allowed me to explore the topics I am passionate about while addressing social and ecological challenges.

The Scar

Every scar tells a story

This project takes place in the China Basin neighborhood located in San Francisco, California. I began by comparing the natural phenomena of abrasive elements in the landscape, examining certain causes of significant marks on materials. When observing the marks left on a rock I saw a relateable element, a scar. The user of this space will experience all stages of the scar, the acceptance, the understanding and final the healing.

Low tide will reveal the scar.

Clairvoyant

“The law of conservation of energy is a physcial law that states energy cannot be created or destroyed but changed from one form to another�

This project was designed for Mission San Jose, located in Fremont, California. I am embracing the indigenous people by evoking their energy through water capture. In spaces of high spiritual energy, water is compressed and forced to escape resulting in a explosion, further enhancing an already tense moment.

Alternatively, in moments of low spiritual energy the water is left to trickle down the rock face and or other elements, allowing the user a gentle moment to absorp their surrounding.

This design is intended to evoke the clairvoyant user while enlightening the general public.

This project is based in San Francisco, California at Yerba Buena Island. I was intrigued by the rapid growth and building of the surrounding landscape. More specifically, how we as human could impact the land around us so quickly, both positively and negatively.

I am bringing awareness by framing various views of the landscape; overtime the structure, made of corten steel, will begin to patina and the frame you once saw, weeks before, will be transformed right before your eyes.

Cuddle Scape

It’s better together

This project takes place in Halfmoon bay, California at Redondo Beach. A noteable site observations is the beach is extremely windy.

As a reponse to the windy, cool conditions, I designed a cuddlescape. A landscape where experiences and plants are arranged together, in clumps. As you vere off the cuddle course, the exterior areas support more independent exploration. Allowing the user moments to reflect and reconviene.

Bath House Detailing

This project takes place in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico at a private spa. When I visited the spa I thought it was incredibly built and highlighted the natural beauty of the site.

My Goal for this project was to study the materials and how the water features are incorporated into the landscape.

VI An activity involving skill in making things by hand Creating a physical model is a valuable part of my design process. I enjoy exploring what spaces feel like in model form. Things can be easily understood spatially and many iterations can be tried quickly.

The models shown in this section represents my journey at City College of San Francisco.

They emphasize architecture with an addition of topography.

I leave you with a piece of work designed to reflect on my journey through school. As my student career began, there were many paths that reoriented me from one study to another.

However, with every slight change in direction, I was reminded my true passion.
