It is our hope that this kitchen is de signed in a way which will allow the most amount of children to be fed and will also be able to accommodate the growth of Hlauleka School in the coming years. It has been such a priv lege to work on the project and serve a community which deserves immea surably more.
Design for Discovery There is potential for the design of the kitchen to be used for the new kitchen in the secondary school. The effectiveness of this design will inform the future designs and could even be used in the technical institute for a culinary school. Through
this project we have learned and experimented with the flow of space, especially in a highly performative space, such as a kitchen. We have also learned how to incorporate passive design strategies in a way that benefits the aesthetics of the building, while also being practice and effective. We are hoping that the design strategies of this project will carry into later expansions of the buildings and the future site construction.
