Pay your rates before December 9 to take advantage of the prompt payment discount period.
Council moves forward with rates Isaac Regional Council would like to inform property owners that processing of delayed rates notices is now underway. Rates notices will start to arrive in letterboxes for 11,364 Isaac properties from Monday November 9 with the discount period open until Wednesday December 9. Chief Executive Officer Rod Ferguson said despite the delay in issuing notices, ratepayers will still be able to take advantage of the standard 30 day discount period. “Ratepayers who make prompt payment on or before December 9 will receive a 10 per cent discount on general rates, and 30 per cent discount for pensioners,” he said. “Some financial institutions can take up to three working days to process an electronic payment, so please check with your bank or credit union to ensure your payment is received by Council in time to secure your discount.” At this point in time rates notices for the second half of the year remain on schedule, to be issued March 2016. Anyone wanting to prepay their rates notices is able to do so through the normal payment channels, and can contact Council’s Rates Officers on 1300 ISAACS (472 227) to receive advice on the estimated amount. General rates contribute to the cost of vital community services in the region, including public facilities, environmental health, local roads, footpaths, bikeways, and much more. Council rates and charges that remain unpaid after December 9 will incur 11 per cent interest per annum, compounded daily. If you have not received your rates notice by November 13 please contact Council at records@isaac.qld.gov.au or phone 1300 ISAACS (472 227) between 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
Rate payment options can be found on the rates notices and are: • By phone using a credit card- simply call 1300 ISAACS (472 227) • By Direct Debit, the discounted amount will be deducted three working days before the due date, please contact Council for the application form. • Via Internet banking • By BPay if registered with your financial institution • By mail using cheque or money order to Isaac Regional Council, PO Box 97, MORANBAH QLD 4744 • In person at one of Council’s offices between 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Ratepayers who cannot make payment by the due date can apply to be considered for a payment arrangement. Application forms are available from Council offices or at www.isaac.qld.gov.au and must be submitted prior to December 9 to avoid interest. Ratepayers who have written to Council for a remission/ objection/change of category or any other issue, are still required to pay their rates by the due date and will be liable for any interest incurred on a late payment. If a ratepayer’s rates concern is granted by Council any rates paid will be refunded. The 10 per cent discount applies to general rates, and excludes all special rates and charges, provided outstanding amounts and overdue rates and interest are paid in full by the due date. Help end domestic and family violence Mayor Anne Baker is asking the community to help the Queensland Government end domestic and family violence in Isaac communities.
“Critically, it will place the safety of victims and children at the heart of all efforts to address and prevent domestic and family violence.”
“Residents are encouraged to provide their views about the Queensland Government’s draft Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Strategy online.

Isaac Regional Council puts regional issues on state agenda Isaac Regional Council put key regional community issues on the state agenda today at the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) Conference in Toowoomba.
Mayor Baker said there was overwhelming support for the motion for regional water security to provide for future population growth.
Council delegates from across Queensland unanimously endorsed the LGAQ to lobby the State Government on five motions put forward by Isaac Regional Council.
“Fundamental to our region’s future is affordable water to unlock economic growth in the resource and agricultural sectors.”
Mayor Anne Baker said the motions covered key priorities from regional development and water security, to increased funding for essential infrastructure and genuine action on postcode discrimination.
“On behalf of mining workers, families and regional resource communities across the state we called for action on the recently released recommendations from the Queensland Government’s fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) inquiry.”
“It’s vital there’s an action plan from the State Government prioritising jobs, business and industry diversification in regional local government areas.”
Mayor Anne Baker, Cr Kelly Vea Vea, and Cr Jane Pickels also met with the Deputy Premier, Coordinator-General and the Minister for Main Roads, Road Safety and Ports and Minister for Energy and Water Supply Mark Bailey MP to discuss key priorities for the Isaac communities.

Fuzzbook contributed by Sarge With the advent of rain the other night it is good to see some smiles and something for everyone to talk about other than how dry it is. Speculation is currently rife as to when the rain will dry out again, so stay tuned for when people start talking about how dry it is once more. Of course I hope some of our country readers have experienced good falls of rain and hopefully many more. It is now a good time to review any disaster plans you may have for your household especially fire, flood or storms. Debris went everywhere the other night, so if everyone can make sure that everything is tied down it would be super. Also look at fuel load on the ground and clean up around buildings and homes so that if fires start they won’t wreck as much havoc. Well done to Harley at the post office for picking up my grammatical error in the last column. I have added one to this column to see if everyone is reading closely, it is there somewhere. Some astute readers may even get a red pen out! Onto crime concerns, nothing much happening around the traps. I would caution all farmers, road workers and earth movers to lock up that diesel or lose it. Around the district diesel tankers are continuing to be targets for thieves wanting free fuel. In some instances even drums laying around sheds are getting checked. If you suspect you have had fuel stolen, report it and be careful not to disturb any tracks in the dirt around tanks as we are building up a database of tyre tracks found. Also a lot of good cheap security cameras on the market now can capture footage around your valuable equipment. Some of the footage can go straight to mobile phones or similar. If you are thinking about cameras get researching. You may find insurance companies reconsider your premium if you have them installed.
Traffic has seemed to slowed up a bit on the highway with not as many tickets issued this week. One traffic crash involving a road train, car and caravan which unbelievably resulted in no injuries but with only collateral damage to the car. The crash happened as a lot do between caravans and trucks, as the truck overtakes the caravan the bow wave of air in front of the truck forces the caravan to the left more than normal. As the caravan then stabilises and recoils back to the right the caravan strikes the truck which then causes the car to jack knife of sorts. In this situation the truck was empty and able to stop a lot quicker than a laden vehicle. Other than that crashes have been few and far between lately. Still spotting a number of kids riding without helmets. If you are a parent and you have a child then it is your responsibility to make sure they ride with a helmet. This should not be because it is law but because the helmet will save the child from serious brain injury if correctly fitted when they crash. There has also been cattle getting out on the roads from recent fires taking out fences. If you see burnt country then chances are there may be some injured or roaming livestock in the area so slow down and be aware. The Bushpigs Presentation Night and Clermont State School Quiz night seemed to go without a hitch. I am not certain who turned out to be the best team for the quiz but you would hope it was the teachers! Anyway that is about it for now. See if you can work this one out, a deaf person walks into a store and motions to the shopkeeper as if he was milking a cow, the shopkeeper recognises milk and points to the back of the store. Next a blind man walks into the store wanting eggs. How would he make the shopkeeper aware of that? Answer next week. Until next time The Sarge

The Clermont Library runs several weekly children’s sessions and these sessions are a good way to connect with parents and young children. CLASS DESCRIPTION Gut and Butt Blast is a target class that focuses on strengthening and toning the nine core divisions of the abdominal plane. While simultaneously blasting the three muscles of the buttocks, hamstrings and quadriceps. This will increase fat metabolism at rest and help slim and tone those problematic areas. Although not targeted, general whole body conditioning applies and while challenging, is more than suitable for any fitness level. Boot camp Boot camp is a type of outdoor group class that mixes your traditional calisthenic and body weight exercise with interval and strength training. Our boot camp incorporates; tyre flipping and throwing, battle rope work, kettlebell, fence climbing and much more! It is a work at your own pace class, designed to be challenging whilst also having fun! Circuit training This is a form of body conditioning or resistance training using high-intensity/ low-intensity aerobic energy.
It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise ‘circuit’ is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. It is highly enjoyable and recommended to all levels of fitness. Lets lift circuit Resistance Circuit works on the principle of Circuit Training with stations broken down into a lower and upper body weights workout, using the subscription of low weights high repetition to develop a challenging total body workout, ensuring lean muscle mass gains. Metafit This is a 30 minute bodyweight training system that gets results! It is a functional and effective, metabolic workout that will change the way you train. Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit combines the latest HIIT techniques with traditional ‘old school’ bodyweight exercises to set the metabolism on fire! Open gym This is your opportunity to use the Gym facilities, there will be a basic weights program and WOD on offer for your utilisation, or you could just be creative and do your own training. THUMP boxing is a moderate to high intensity cardio boxing class. This class is specifically effective in defining the body’s musculature, while improving balance, flexibility, and co-ordination. The cardio component uses the body’s energy systems and improves your ability to use oxygen, helping you to work harder for longer and burn fat in the process.

Fourteen Vets played a stroke competition and the winner was Tony Henn with run downs to Bill Moller, Glenda Rieck and Marcia Campbell. Least putts to Kerie Campbell. Vets will now play in the mornings. Be there by 8.30am for 9am hit off.

Come join us for a great bike ride. Three distances to choose from 5km, 10km,15km, Help the team celebrate their month of riding and fundraising to help find a cure for Kids Cancers. Your registration fee (sponsorship fee) goes directly to fighting Kids cancers. Registered riders will be sent the course map and info upon registration. This will be a great morning with others who like to ride and have fun.
