Tech fest programmed to rock young masterminds Isaac is ready to unearth the region's up and coming techno-savvy game changers. Isaac Regional Council libraries are on the hunt for young people aged 9 to 16 to form Lego Robotics Teams. Mayor Anne Baker said innovation and fun is at the mechanical heart of Lego Robotics. “Robotics is part of our future and Council is a huge supporter of innovation and educational fun for our children,” she said. “It is highly possible the skills are needed for future jobs and perhaps could help in solving problems from medicine to infrastructure. Mayor Baker strongly encouraged all budding gizmo geniuses aged between nine and 16 to be part of this exciting experience. “The children will form Lego robotics teams across the Isaac,” she said.
Isaac Regional Council Libraries are also seeking interested community members to become mentors as part of this exciting Isaac Lego Robotics program. Do you work in engineering, IT or science? Do you have a great interest in coding and robotics? You could be a Lego Robotics Team Mentor. Team Mentors will work with Isaac Libraries staff to guide and assist teams of up to 10 children. Mentors will help children learn how to build working robots, to solve problems and complete challenges.
So if you think this sounds like just the thing for you, come in and speak to your local library staff for more information.
A 10 week program will commence the first week in August. At the end of the 10 weeks all teams will come face to face to the Isaac Libraries Tech Fest, Saturday, October 21 at Dysart Library.
Teams are set to be finalised by today Friday, July 21.
This is a chance to show off your team's robotics skills. Visit www.isaac.qld.gov.au or call 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227) for more details. Isaac... helping to energise the world
