Useful Advice for Vacation Preparation If you are like everyone else, you enjoy a good vacation away from home. However, you know that it goes much more smoothly when you take a few simple steps ahead of time to get ready. Read, learn and follow all the advice in this article so that you can personally navigate the treacherous waters of vacation preparation for a hassle free experience that does not add to the stress you are trying to get away from. Your itinerary is something that you should write down in full with plenty of time left. While on your trip, you should leave a copy of this with a friend or family member so they can check on you while you travel. Before the trip, this serves as a framework for your preparations, from making reservations to checking out destinations online. In addition to leaving your itinerary with a friend, also leave copies of identifying documents. In the worst case scenario of you disappearing, they might need to alert authorities as to your name, image and even the make, model and license plate of your vehicle. In less dire straits, you might just need documents faxed to you in the event you lose your wallet. Make sure your finances are organized before you take off. You not only want to have money in your pocket and your bank account, but you want to make sure that it will not disappear on you suddenly while traveling. This can happen thanks to overdrafts and forgotten bills. You also want to make sure that you do not come home with an empty wallet facing a stack of bills. Your trip should not create the stress it is supposed to alleviate. Checking in is something you can sometimes do before you actually get to the airport. This is going to save you time and trouble, and possibly alert you to last minute details you have to take care of while you still have time to do so. Last minute fixes at the airport tend to be expensive and have very limited choices. You want to travel as lightly as you can. Extra weight is just more energy you have to expend in moving your luggage around. Extra weight and size can mean additional baggage fees in most airlines, and sometimes even hotels. Keep the calendar days of your trip completely blacked out. Do not agree to any commitments on those days, or even the days before and after. If your trip is as awesome as you hope, you are going to need a day at home to recover when you get back. Stay offline as much as you can while on the road. The Internet follows you everywhere, and the point is to unplug. You want your trip to be a pleasant memory, and not a chore, since you are in fact trying to get away from those. Take the time to make the right moves for a great trip. Apply all that you have read in the preceding paragraphs, and you can take a trip you remember for a lifetime.
