The California wedding community gathered at Tar Creek Ranch for California Wedding Day ’s Tapas & ‘Tinis party planned and designed by Zest It Up Event Design & Coordination to celebrate the release of the Spring/Summer ‘25 issue. The inspiration behind the event was a twist on the charm of a classic dirty martini with a neutral color palette, flickering candles and buzzing ambience.
Chic linens and décor brought by All About Events, Draping by Kim, and Luxe Linen were effortlessly complemented by florals and candles from Elizabeth Grace Floral. Grand CA Wedding Day marquee letters from Alpha Lit Central Coast illuminated the festivities while signage throughout the event was crafted by Rachell Rae Designs. Enhancing the swanky atmosphere, violinist Ben Hoyt offered live music and aerialist Lily Grace Quirk wowed guests. Attendees indulged in food by Garnet Culinary and experienced unique drinks from Cass Winery, Iron Wolf Coffee, Tap Truck, Krobar Craft Distillery and To Be Honest Bev Co. The night ended with desserts from Just Baked and ice cream from Negranti Creamery. Thanks to Tami Bernard, the California Wedding Day team was in full glam. Guests took advantage of Epic Entertainment’s photo booth and martinis garnished with edible toppers by Bee Box Design Studio. Daring to Dream Events helped tie the entire party together with their impeccable staff.

With its green rolling hills, olive trees and suffusion of garden charm, Olive Hill Estate brings a taste of European flair to the Bay Area; it also serves as the serene setting for this lovely spread. “Since I was a little girl, my favorite things have always been very clear to me: simply my love for France and anything French, the color blue, anything toile and blue chinoiserie vessels,” says Le Bloomerie owner Melissa Sullivan of her inspiration. Here, she combines all her favorite things with decadent florals and newly trending green chinoiserie to refresh the aesthetic for the upcoming season. Among the stems used in the design scape are Nerine lilies, white sweet peas, hydrangea and garden roses, creating an ethereal vibe. “I hope the trend for 2025 and onward would be for brides to not just follow what they see as popular but to incorporate what they love, what inspires them to create a beautiful tablescape/wedding for their guests and future memories,” Sullivan concludes.

Carolina Marquez set out to design a wedding that felt intentional, elevated and uniquely her own at a private estate in Newport Beach. Together with her fiancé, Quinn Schilz, they succeeded in creating an inviting and luxurious experience for their guests. Beginning their day with a first look, the couple set the tone for the evening affair, which was filled with love and personality in a setting of beautiful greenery and antique statues. Delicate white draping in the table linens, tiny bows that served as name cards and the long ribbons tied on every seat gave the estate a warm and romantic garden atmosphere. These effortlessly elegant touches to the reception space mimicked the flowing silk of Carolina’s gown and scarf, and the dramatic lace detail in the gown’s slit. Wanting to ensure celebratory and cinematic moments, the couple created lasting memories with a five-tier champagne tower and a nighttime photo shoot of signature details, such as Carolina’s Jimmy Choo heels. When describing her approach to designing an intimate wedding that felt like a celebration at every turn, Carolina explains that “intentional details create the most lasting memories.” —Kaitlyn Meehan

Kayla Perkoski and Carrissa Cochrane’s wedding was a celebration deeply rooted in community, personal connection and unique moments. “As a queer couple, we intentionally picked June 28, which is the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York,” says Kayla about their wedding date being chosen to honor a pivotal movement for LGBTQ rights. For their nuptials, Kayla and Carrissa found the perfect spot in downtown Los Angeles at Millwick. “We were drawn to the blend of the industrial look with the biophilic design,” says Kayla. “With both an outdoor courtyard for the ceremony and open-air ‘indoor’ area for the reception, it felt like the best of both worlds.”
Forgoing a traditional ceremony, the couple tied the knot with their guests seated around them, creating an intimate atmosphere in which they felt “held” by their loved ones. A beautiful floral meadow configured like “parentheses” surrounded the couple in the same fashion as the guest seating. They also included a “ring warming” tradition, when their guests passed the rings among themselves, sharing love, well wishes and good intentions. The couple’s custom-made jumpsuits featured beaded lace and a mandarin collar, a nod to Kayla’s Chinese heritage. Something’s Blooming created floral “tattoos” for their wrists, a whimsical touch that later led to the real thing with a tattoo artist on hand at the reception. Kayla and Carrissa got matching tattoos to commemorate the day as did some of their guests, who chose designs from a special flash sheet.
For dinner, a vegetarian buffet was served with a twist: Guests were invited to get their food based on their zodiac signs. “This was a cool way to get people connecting with other guests ... and was a great conversation starter,” says Kayla. “Our guests talked about this aspect a lot that night and even after.” —Lara

BUILDING LOVE
With a January 2024 engagement under their belts, Matthew and Nicole knew they had a project on their hands—and the sound of a ticking clock in their ears. The seven-year undertaking of turning TAR CREEK RANCH (@tarcreekranch) into a wedding and event venue was Matthew’s dream, so the grand opening coinciding with the owners’ wedding made a perfect debut.
As soon as the couple set an October date, the race was on to complete key upgrades before the arrival of 240 guests. The Magnolia Pavilion, a new outdoor dining space, became the focal point of the celebration, framed as it is by fields of Sudangrass and wildflowers, which had been planted by Matthew three months before the big day. Throughout the ranch, fresh landscaping and meticulous updates transformed the space into a pictureperfect setting.
Beyond the large-scale improvements, the couple took on a series of DIY projects to make the wedding uniquely their own. A custom-built wine barrel bar expanded the reception’s drink service, while handcrafted signage
welcomed guests and guided them through the day. Inside the barn and pavilion, a black and white design with blue accents and hydrangeas set the scene, while draped linens added a cozy touch and a sparkling disco ball brought the whimsy. “All of the hard work and personal effort we put into this day made it all the more worth it,” Matthew reflects.
One of the most memorable elements of the evening was a late-night McFlurry bar, a tribute to the Abbate family’s deep ties to McDonald’s and Nicole’s love for the classic treat. As their friends and family celebrated, they were witnessing not just a marriage but the realization of a long-held vision, brought to life with passion, dedication and a hands-on approach. Using a combination of experience and today’s latest technologies, fourth-generation members of the Schapiro family thoroughly clean and preserve each wedding gown to prevent yellowing and discoloration; spot removal is also part of the process, with special attention paid to neckline, trim and hemline. Nestled in the picturesque landscape of San Luis Obispo, Villa Loriana radiates a timeless elegance that sets the stage for a romantic design to unfold—all highlighting a sumptuous standout fabric: velvet.
“With its rich texture and opulent appeal, velvet became the focal point of our vision, weaving its way through every detail of the shoot,” Jenna Nichols, planner from Better2gether Events, says. “From the bride’s shoes to the groom’s attire, from the tablescapes to the intricate décor, velvet enveloped every aspect in an aura of sophistication and allure.”
The day captured the pinnacle of a love story unfolding, including a poignant exchange of vows during the ceremony, intimate moments
caught in the newlywed portraits and more. The bride was the epitome of elegance in a gown adorned with delicate accents, finished with cascading pearls and a lush bouquet. The groom was the picture of sophistication and charm in a tailored velvet suit with a velvet bow tie.
A lavish cocktail hour paired Booker Vineyard’s 2020 pink rosé with a custom charcuterie board, which were laid upon velvet-draped tables. High-top florals enhanced the atmosphere of refined luxury.
“In the end, ‘Velvet Dreams’ was more than a styled shoot; it was a testament to the enduring allure of romance and the timeless beauty of love,” Nichols says. “And amidst the grandeur of Villa Loriana, it served as a reminder that true elegance never goes out of fashion.”

Wedding signage extends far beyond a welcome sign or a seating chart; it’s a way to surprise and delight guests. Personalized “Do Not Disturb” hangers for post-reception recovery, matchboxes with cheeky messages, and directional signs with playful sayings bring the charm. One couple even turned their dating-app origin story into signage, designing a Hinge-inspired display featuring their profile photos, personal Q&As and first conversation—a sentimental keepsake.
For couple Logan & Adam, that meant incorporating their love of hiking into their seating chart. Guests explored a pedestaled display that featured national parks the couple had hiked together. “This set will forever be one of our favorites because it was so true to who they are as a couple,” says Trinity Smith, founder and artistic director of Rose & Wrench.
For a wedding between two sports fans, their seating chart featured Polaroids of guests as part of “The Nguyen-ing Team” lineup, with tables named after legendary athletes. “They were, of course, ‘The Goats,’” says Smith. Even their dessert display followed suit, reading “We Make a Sweet Team.”
At its core, wedding signage is an art form that blends design, storytelling and experience. As Smith puts it: “At the end of the day, your wedding is about you, and every element of your day should be a reflection of your love, interests and life together.”

A LESSON IN HOW TO ACHIEVE SIMPLE, AFFORDABLE SOPHISTICATION
In a world where inspirational shoots are typically too lavish or too impractical for most couples, Rachel Cohn—the visionary behind R. Cohn Events—wanted to offer an event design that felt achievable.
“My main goal was to create something real and authentic for today’s bride,” she shares. Her intention was clear: To show couples how to envision their celebration in the space and then create it.
Cohn kept practicality at the heart of the design, focusing on affordable accents while creating an upscale and beautiful event. Alila Marea Beach Resort in Encinitas provided an idyllic yet contemporary setting for her vision. “I wanted the overall style and design to be organic and complement the unique, gorgeous, modern hotel that Alila Marea has created.”
Cohn’s decision to take the road less traveled —or, in this case, the location less often chosen—was based on surprises Mother Nature might bring to the big day. “I wanted to set the ceremony in a different location than most brides at Alila Marea use in order to show an alternative (or backup) plan in case of weather,” says Cohn of utilizing the Ocean Terrace. “I wanted to show how beautiful a ‘Plan B’ space can be.”
For the ceremony, an asymmetrical floral altar in neutral tones was accented by eclectic vases. For the reception, the tabletops were graced with pale tapered candles and centerpieces of both flowers and fruit, all featuring a palette of off-white, lavender and green. Rather than using typical linen-draped tables, Cohn highlighted the raw beauty of exposed tables to create an elevated coastal look. In a playful touch, dessert was a towering chocolate chip cookie cake rather than a traditional wedding cake. “[This was my] last, fun twist—I feel like brides still want that classic cakecutting photo opportunity, but more and more clients are giving [their desserts] a different spin!” she explains. “Plus, who doesn’t love a huge cookie?!” This delicious detail added the final delightful element to the celebration, reinforcing Cohn’s belief that weddings should be a mix of tradition, fun and personal flair.

To enhance the dreamlike ambiance, an ethereal canopy of twinkling lights was draped throughout the garden, casting a soft, romantic glow. Star-shaped pendants suspended from the arbor above the bridal table and the bar brought an extra layer of magic, creating an immersive atmosphere for the couple and their guests.
The overall vision was to craft an evening that HEIGHTENED all of the senses. From the stunning setting and the MELODIES of the string orchestra to the delicious culinary cuisine and the FRAGRANT aroma of the flowers, every detail worked in HARMONY .

A masterful blend of whimsy and elegance, the design was inspired by the couple’s shared love of Legends of Zelda and nature. The design featured a whimsical entrance through a hedge maze in the Vibiana courtyard, where guests were welcomed with champagne and serenaded by woodland musicians, including an ocarina player, flutist, and harpist. The ceremony path was adorned with lush greenery and lined with gray and beige ottomans, leading to a romantic backdrop of layered translucent panels nestled among wild flora.
For the reception, the open-air Redbird dining room was transformed into a greenhouse-inspired space with overhead greenery and soft uplighting. Modern string quartet arrangements and a trio of musicians added to the enchanting atmosphere. The evening continued with a relaxed lounge area for dancing and mingling. The design perfectly balanced natural elements, soft lighting and elegant textures, creating a romantic and immersive experience.

Bread & Butter
Forever partners, bread and butter are the muses for this cozy dinner at The Pavilion in the newly renovated Colony House in Anaheim. Originally built in 1948 as a tractor factory, the venue is a striking blend of Craftsman architecture with modern elements, from The Great Hall’s original bowstring truss ceiling and white-washed walls to the walls of live succulents accentuating the outdoor spaces—all together, a perfect canvas for this artistic design. Embracing the foodie-themed setting, the design calls for the table to be adorned with aromatic breads and buttercolored florals, with flickering candles as glowing accents.
We thoughtfully incorporated FRESH , seasonal produce in unexpected ways, using FOOD not just as sustenance but as a DESIGN element.

The sculptural centerpieces are created from a curated batch of freshly baked baguettes, croissants, focaccia, ciabatta, and loaves of rye, seed and sourdough breads. “These selections weren’t just chosen for their beauty, but for the way they added texture and an inviting, aromatic quality to the space,” notes Rose. Lavenders Flowers brings the butter to the table in the form of softly hued florals. “The result felt fresh, intentional and uniquely our own—a reimagining of a familiar concept in a way that felt new,” says Janelle Thomson of Lavenders Flowers. A playful nod to the impending nuptials takes the form of a croissant bouquet.

A serpentine table awash in burgundy hues and chrome accents is set against The Patio’s living-succulent wall and outdoor fireplace. “I wanted to introduce a modern and trending element—chrome details felt like the perfect addition,” says Thomson. “I loved the contrast they brought, adding depth and a contemporary feel to the lush, organic designs.” A bounty of vegetables and fruits—including red and black grapes, beets, blackberries, cherries, purple artichokes, red cabbage and endive—create a vibrant scene. “The ingredients added natural color, depth and visual interest to the tablescapes while grounding the space in seasonal authenticity,” says Rose. “Our floral selections were equally intentional, including fritillaria, orchids, allium, sweet pea, tulip, amaranth and carnations. We chose this blend to evoke a sense of luxury and whimsy, creating a captivating contrast against the rustic elements.”

The Loft, with its stunning new bar, is transformed into a verdant setting with seasonal fruits and vegetables woven among vibrant florals, a perfect complement to the bright fuchsia-hued signature cocktail. “We wanted to create an elevated experience that felt both intentional and artful. Our approach to the design was driven by a passion for thoughtful presentation and a dedication to quality,” says Rose.
Curiosity is the KEY to breathing new life into ideas that may have been seen before. I encourage anyone designing to use inspiration as a FOUNDATION but remain open to experimentation. That’s where the MAGIC happens.

Gray suede chairs by Found Rental Co. melt into the desert sand, making for a march down a monochromatic aisle. The brilliance of a yellow floral installment adds a pop of color.
A vision in and of itself, a grand king-size table sits on the open-air deck. The table is set with earthtoned dishware and hand-painted plates bearing the image of a snake. In lieu of tabletop florals, extraordinary arrangements of blooms envelop the front of the table, making it feel like a field of wildflowers. A second tablescape holds joyful yellow blooms kept in place by stones from the area.

Inspired by a “secret garden,” Kathleen and Drazen turned to Carol Keiner of The Blushing Details to design an ethereal wedding with an element of surprise. After tying the knot at the Sitting Bull Olive Lawn, the reception was held at the Lake Lawn, a separate area of the venue framed by structures draped in billowing white fabric and ivy tendrils. With a design scheme celebrating Olivia Celani’s and Austin Levy’s shared Italian heritage, the pair were married in style under the springtime sunshine at Beaulieu Garden. Stone fountains with cherubic figures burbled among evergreen hedges, transporting guests to the Mediterranean. Flowers, tastefully composed of lush foliage and petals in a delicate palette of peach, lilac and mauve, overflowed from every corner. With its soft lace pattern, Olivia’s gown mirrored the profusion of florals creating a rich textural contrast against the opulent altar at which the couple exchanged their vows. Light linen accents complemented the green grapes and split figs scattered amongst floral centerpieces, lending an air of elegantly understated abundance. In 2019, two weeks after a playful joke about airplane etiquette sparked an instant connection between them, Corey Seip surprised Hailey Middleton with a romantic first date. A few hours later, Corey shared that he had chosen to explore their new relationship instead of accepting a job offer. The newlywed’s occasional flair for the dramatic was reflected in the lush greenery, wooden and handmade accents, and the moody black-and-white theme that carried through both the ceremony and the reception. Family and friends witnessed the couple professing their love and commitment to each other in front of rows and rows of grapes in a vast vineyard. Seeking to provide their guests with a culinary experience that resembled their own travels, Hailey and Corey chose appetizers and late-night snacks that sparked conversations throughout the evening, such as a live preparation of ahi tuna tataki , nachos served on a platter large enough to require several servers to carry it, and s’mores prepared individually over a fire for those who wished for a sweet treat. Wedding planners take on the project of a lifetime when they design their own nuptials. Jamison Evans struck a harmonious balance between her professional background and her personal tastes to bring her wedding to Jerry Lopez to life. With 22 years of event planning experience, the bride knew just how to infuse ethereal elegance into the celebration. Two grand arches, bedecked in asymmetrical arrangements of cascading greenery and light-hued blooms, were set up to welcome guests to the open-air ceremony and make the space feel like a regal church, giving the sprawling vineyard a more intimate feel. Jamison’s father did double duty, both leading her down the aisle and officiating the exchange of vows—Jerry’s oldest son humorously asked, “Who is giving her away?” as they reached the altar. The bride’s design included a bow theme that was subtly woven into the celebration, appearing as accents in the bridesmaids’ dresses and the stunning three-tier Lambeth cake. The alfresco festivities continued as friends and family found their seats at round reception tables adorned with cream-colored linens, romantic candlelight and low arrangements of pastel florals, all enhancing the airy vision of the day. Revelry was the true theme of the evening, as each table was assigned a designated “party animal,” who was given the task of keeping their tablemates engaged in the evening’s fun (and sipping on “Jami’s Drops” and “JLo’s OldFashioneds,” the newlyweds’ signature cocktails). Naturally, competitive group performances broke out: a flash mob rendition of the macarena “the wave,” and even a lively conga line. Under an expanse of a never-ending blue sky, Halee Etter and Taylor Johnson tied the knot at the luxurious La Lomita Ranch. Coming from a family that has lived in the area for generations, Halee easily found a stunning venue for her nuptials in San Luis Obispo. In a picture-perfect moment in time, the pair became husband and wife as the golden hour arrived. As the light began to wane, guests gathered inside for a reception inspired by the beauty of the region’s natural surroundings. As an ode to the California landscape and the culture of the San Luis Obispo area, the reception space, with its warm, organic ambiance, was curated using oak branch installations, elegant blue embroidered linens and silver that had been passed down for generations. Jordan, sans jacket and bow tie, and Halee, having changed into a flirty mini dress, celebrated the evening by cutting loose. Under a bright August sun at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, Sheridan and Seth professed their love for each other in front of their family and friends with the vast Pacific serving as the perfect backdrop. Designed to highlight the ocean views, the celebration was truly a breath of fresh air, featuring earth tones accented by orange and blue that created a calm and refreshing atmosphere. The addition of potted plants along the aisle, in the seating chart and on every table created an organic scene that highlighted the newlyweds’ love for nature. Soft shades of brown and orange adorned the reception space, introducing a welcome autumnal feeling to a late-summer wedding. In this age of technology, Zachary Kelch and Jordan Godfrey met in what is now a rather rare fashion: at a bar. Shortly after Jordan spotted Zach and boldly introduced himself, they knew they had a special connection. When Jordan proposed to Zach on his birthday, at sunset, while they were on vacation in Mexico, Zach “gave the easiest, ugly-teared response of his life.” After a long engagement, the happy couple’s wedding day was a much-awaited affair of Old Hollywood elegance standing out against the rustic backdrop of Lake Arrowhead at Pine Rose Cabins. The classically handsome pair, looking refined in their deep green tuxedos, exchanged their vows in dappled sunlight under a canopy of trees and framed by their loving wedding party, all dressed in black. Lush greenery overflowed from every aspect of Zach and Jordan’s special day; the enchanted forest design made complete with the use of vintage furniture and rich textures set against black and gold accents. Candlelight and crystal chandeliers gave the evening a warm, romantic glow, which was enhanced by the abundant foliage and dramatic drapery that perfectly blended their vision into an eclectic aesthetic uniquely their own. Neelima Mandava and Daniel Villarreal’s two-day wedding was an enchanting celebration of two cultures and intertwining heritage. The couple met during their first day of orientation at college in San Luis Obispo, and their immediate friendship was so powerful, they knew it would last a lifetime. The process of planning their wedding took several years because both Neelima and Daniel wanted it to perfectly incorporate their respective cultures. They chose Greengate Ranch & Vineyard for the venue, a space that perfectly connected the indoors and the outdoors for maximum flexibility. The first day of celebrations kicked off with the baraat, an Indian wedding procession honoring Neelima’s heritage, followed by a series of timeless rituals led by the family priest, including showering the couple with rice for good fortune. A vibrant reception took place next, with classic Indian cuisine, mesmerizing dances and performances during the sangeet celebration. On the second day, the celebration shifted to a traditional American ceremony in Greengate Ranch’s indoor stables space, with elements borrowed from Daniel’s Mexican heritage. The guests were then treated to an outdoor cocktail hour at sunset while the indoor space was rapidly transformed to accommodate a candlelit dinner, mariachi band and dance floor in the evening. Ellen Senft and Joseph Kwon had 10 years of adventures together before they embarked on the big adventure — their wedding. Thus, when the special day arrived, it needed to be exciting and special. The couple met in the summer of 2013 at a social gathering, and by pure coincidence attended Indiana University together, which was only the beginning of their relationship. Their love story culminated during a trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2023, when Joseph got down on one knee and proposed. For their wedding, the couple planned an adventure across the country to match their lively spirits: a destination wedding in San Diego. The Seabird Resort, with its airy, coastal feel in central Oceanside, was the immediate choice. To define the space, Ellen opted for a palette of pastel purple and elderberry, which was also incorporated into florals, stationery and other details. The ceremony took place on the outdoor patio with sweeping views of the ocean and palm trees. The celebration then moved indoors for the reception, where the color scheme perfectly complemented the venue’s ocean blues and whites. Set against a sunset and swaying palm trees, the wedding of Ariana Geiderman and Jake Abt began the next chapter of their love story. Empire Polo Club was an easy choice for the couple, whose shared experience of escaping to Palm Springs during their youth garnered a special affection for the magical spot. Inspired by Old Hollywood and royal gardens, the event exuded glamour while also containing traditional aesthetics that remained uniquely the couple’s own. Ariana donned an exquisite off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood gown that highlighted the designer’s trademark structure and drapery. Jake, in a well-tailored tuxedo, stood misty-eyed under a grand floral chuppah as he watched Ariana walk down the lush flower-bordered aisle alight with the golden hour’s glow. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a picturesque cocktail hour, which featured fresh citrus and seafood fare, before entering the reception. There, crystal chandeliers accented with champagne-hued drapery warmly illuminated the tent. Paying special tribute to the bride’s belief that she was a princess in a past life, Jake and Ariana cut their richly floral- cake with a sword worthy of a prince. Having grown up in a family with a membership at the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, Samantha Castillo developed fond memories of the time she spent there. So, because of that lifelong affection, as well as a special love for the month of July—the month they became engaged and later had their son, Jameson—Samantha and her fiancé, Zane Waysz, sought out The Huntington as their place to say “I do.” When they learned that the venue had just one date available for July 2024, their choice was made. Inspired by the gorgeous architecture and natural beauty of The Huntington, the couple chose to accentuate the venue with details reminiscent of Baroque art. Even Samantha’s dress, with its basque waist, silk taffeta skirt and beaded corset, reflected a style that was popular in Europe’s Basque region during the 17th century. As Samantha descended the curved aisle, which was lined with a medley of pastel florals, Zane awaited her with a smile, standing in his classic black suit and bow tie upon an elevated platform in front of the garden’s large, tiered fountain. The bride’s “something blue” was the couple’s son, Jameson. The adorable 1-year-old, sporting baby blue shorts, vest and bow tie, was also the inspiration for the evening’s blueberry-lavender mocktail, listed right alongside his parents’ favorite drinks. The breathtaking florals continued into the reception space and surrounded the sweetheart table, enveloping the couple in flowery beauty as they dined in an ornate tablescape. After five years of dating and in a gesture acknowledging their shared love of travel, Judy and Darrin were wed aboard their private yacht on the Pacific Ocean. To have their parents present in spirit, Judy’s ivory bouquet featured two lockets holding portraits of both her parents and Darrin’s, each on their wedding day. The yacht turned garden featured romantic twinkling lights among the overhanging florals, which contained varieties of Honey Dijon roses, honeysuckle vines, white peonies and campanula. The use of pale blue and leather details throughout the décor conjured a subtle maritime motif. With smiles etched on their faces, the pair exchanged “I do’s”—or in Darrin’s case, “I do, I do, I do’s,” as he eagerly interrupted the minister in earnest excitement. As the sun set, Judy donned a cropped plushcoat and spent the evening dancing with Darrin on the bow of the boat, surrounded by their loved ones. Nicole Ward and Vanessa Rivera found a deep sense of safety and healing in each other and in the love they share. Although incredible, it truly was no surprise when on vacation in Tuscany, Vanessa got down on one knee and at the same time, Nicole revealed a ring and her own plan to propose. Needless to say, they each responded with a heartfelt “yes.” To reflect the ease and effortless flow of their relationship, the couple envisioned an intimate day celebrated with their closest friends and family. Bouquets of white florals in hand, Vanessa and Nicole—each wearing a simple, modern gown accented by pearl jewelry—exchanged vows privately on the lush lawn of the Santa Barbara Courthouse. The reception destination was set in the Santa Ynez Valley, the location of the couple’s first overnight trip in the early days of their relationship. At the request of the newlyweds, loved ones donned elegant black attire and gathered at Mattei’s Tavern for a vibrant cocktail hour and dinner. Simple white florals were scattered about the long table, which seated all 25 of their guests, and a horseshoe motif served as good luck as well as a nod to the couple’s love of horses. Effortless and elegant, the soirée was full of toasts in celebration of Vanessa’s and Nicole’s uncomplicated and unwavering love for each other. The evening ramped up with the brides changing into adorably similar mini dresses and cowboy boots and then moving the party to the nearby Maverick Saloon for a lively dance party, which the newlyweds later reflected on as the “perfect end to an unforgettable day.” —Ryley S. From its opening chapter, Riley Hess and Joseph Canty’s love story was straight from a classic romance novel. Joseph, an Air Force pilot, proposed to Riley on Catalina Island after taking her on a flight for the first time. From there, the couple’s love story soared ever higher. Riley envisioned a classic Italian garden atmosphere for their wedding, so the couple chose Monserate Winery in Fallbrook. The venue’s cobblestone architecture, ceramic pots and lush greenery all contributed to the timeless Italianate theme. Every detail was chosen to create a whimsical, familial atmosphere, including Riley’s favorite flowers, ranunculus. The ceremony took place outdoors, bathed in sunlight, with a charming pond and fountain making for a magical backdrop. The bride walked down the aisle to “The Goodness of God” and “Here Comes the Sun,” and the ceremony prominently featured a prayer written by Riley’s grandmother, who couldn’t make it to the wedding due to a recent accident. The moment helped Riley feel like her grandmother was present. The celebration moved indoors for the reception, where the desserts were highlights — particularly Dippin’ Dots, one of Riley’s favorite treats, which tasted especially refreshing on one of the hottest days of the year. The pair took care to add personal touches for all their guests, with handwritten cards and a Polaroid wall that doubled as the guest book. For the first dance, Riley and Joseph chose “Out of Oklahoma” by Lainey Wilson, commemorating the state where they began living together. —Jasmine Shackleford

Ten years after their first date, Alice Newman and Alex Toutant celebrated their wedding in a tight-knit, family-oriented gathering at The Paramour Estate in LA. The couple prized each other’s familial bonds from early on—Alex proposed to Alice while surrounded by family at a Christmas Eve celebration—so many family members were given important roles in the ceremony. One of Alice’s brothers formally united the bride and groom as the officiant, and her father played the piano as the couple walked down the aisle. In addition, every guest received a custom napkin with their name embroidered on the fabric in colorful flowing letters by Psychic Stitch. The outdoor ceremony took place beneath thick, arching tree branches, creating dramatic patterns of light and shadow on the lush green lawn. Tall, vibrant flowers by The Little Branch enhanced the dreamy feeling. The party remained outside in the warm evening air for dinner, where fairy lights, candles and glowing lamps created a whimsical atmosphere. In the background, the warm and welcoming brick walls of the estate enriched the ambiance of the scene. The newlyweds’ table was covered with an embroidered tablecloth that featured their initials and pictures representing many of their shared passions. Eventually, everyone moved inside for dancing, and a Dodgers-themed hot dog cart served comfort food for guests to enjoy. Through their shared love, the couple’s wedding day brought their entire families even closer together during a wondrous night of festivities. —Jasmine Shackleford
