Location: Melbourne , Australia
This thesis attempts to explore the potentiality of customized design in creating and maintaining the sense of belonging in the diverse society context. Will architecture, as a “permanent” item, be influenced by “temporary” occupants? Can “temporary” occupants become narratives to guide the growth of architecture? Does architecture still be permanent when facing different occupants?

SHAPE
The proposition will represent the new center of distribution through the station where the shape of the circle is used to redistribute the entire flue. By creating a circular intersection, this proposition will corporate programs and circulation together. The shape will facilitate the circulation from this new center to other existing services in Heron Island Research Station. The shape of circle is ideal shape, which can create mutli-entrances face to different directions, and also takes into consideration the local condition of this island to avoid removing trees.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATION
This proposal is aim to create a mutilfunction space while respects the environment. So this peoject is designed to keep same condition, retain mostly trees on this site and change the shape of this proposal to avoiding these trees. Once when people entered into the building the visitors will find themselves under a covered space which allows tree trucks appear under the beam of the pergola. From there, people can view the history and culture of Heron Island, this space is designed as a commutation space for people to discuss and rest. There is no designed pathway in this proposal that grant people to go everywhere and let them understand this space well. The pergola structure redistricts the entrance which aim to obscure the bounary between nature and this proposition. There is no enclose wall which is totally open up to environment.
