Conditions of Sale 1. The stock will be sold in the order in which they appear in the catalogue and the highest bidder on each lot on the fall of the hammer will be declared the purchaser. If any dispute shall arise between two or more bidders then the lot in dispute will be put up again and resold, or the purchaser may be declared by the auctioneers.

2. The pedigree and description of the lots are believed to be correct, but are not intended as a warranty and therefore shall be taken with all faults and errors of description.

3. All animals are at the risk of vendor before sale and the purchaser after the sale. The auctioneer accepts no responsibility for damage or injury caused to the animal in the sales yard or in its precinct thereof.

4. The service dates, while believed to be correct, cannot however be guaranteed.

5. All lots will be sold in euro. Purchaser will be charged a fee of 5% of sale price.

Ryan Texels When the Ryan family were looking for something to add value to their 600 commercial ewe flock back in the mid 80’s they could look no further than the “White Beauties” aka Texels. They were attracted to the Texel breed by their ease of management excellent carcase shape and the reduced labour needed due to their high resistance to worms (less dosing), also this saved on labour and backache as there is no need for dagging.

The Ryan family made the decision to start breeding Texels in 1987 and it is clear to see that the Ryans have kept the finger on the pulse over the years, We believe this is done by connecting with our customers, and breeding what the customer wants, active shearlings with good shape ,correctness and performance figures. The 3 Ryan flocks Graigues, Rotsee and Lawn have been performance recording initially in the LMI Scheme and currently with Sheep Ireland since they were established and this sales entry has excellent recorded ewes.

Each year we look to source the best possible genetics in Ireland or UK ,Junior Stock Rams purchased this year include Mallaghrafferty Cadell ( service sire to 3 ewes in the sale carrying 5 lambs) and Knap Crash Bandicoot ( service sire to 4 ewes in the sale carrying 9 lambs) both of these rams are showing power, extreme muscling and real Texel attributes. The 2 rams purchased in 2018 Derrylahan Big Balls (service sire to 4 ewes in the sale carrying 8 lambs) went on to win the Shearling Ram class at the Growvite Texel All-Ireland and Kilclammon Branston (service sire to 3 ewes in the sale carrying 6 lambs) a stand out Ram at the Sheep Ireland LambPLus sale who was 3rd in the Growvite Texel All-Ireland this year. These are 4 of the Service Sires for the 14 Ewes carrying 28 lambs being brought out by the Ryans for this sale.

The Foundry Flock In 2019 The Foundry Flock is celebrating 20 years breeding Texel Sheep.We have learned a lot of lessons on the way.We have never lost the desire to produce sheep that are easily fleshed, fast growing and active.The commercial farmer is our biggest and best customer.

We are very interested in performance recording and scrapie resistance.

On this year’s sale all our hoggets are parentage verified so you get what you buy.

Health Status The Foundry Flock is Scrapie Monitored and ewes are export eligible. Our shearling ewes are vaccinated with Toxavax and are on the Heptavac-P system. They have been given their booster vaccine and fluke and worm dose in November.

Chessy & Nilands Flocks Established in 1976 as one of the foundation flocks of the breed. Over the years many new flocks were formed with females purchased from Chessy. In Britain many of the top flocks carry Chessy blood in their veins including almost Procters entire pen in Lanark this year.

Which won the pen of three ram lambs and 2nd prize open ram lamb, selling to a top of 16000gns. The 2009 All Ireland Champion purchased by Procters Farms for €10000 is behind the breeding of a Royal Highland Champion & Reserve Champion, two Royal Welsh Interbreed Champions, a Great Yorkshire Show Champion plus many more Champions at club sales.

At the Premier Sale we have had 6 Male Champions, 7 Reserve Male Champions, 3 Female Champions and 2 Reserve Female Champions. We have also had 2 R.D.S. Champions and 3 Reserve Champions. We have won the National Championships 6 times and Reserve 3 times. We have won the National Flock Competition twice and were Reserve twice in the five years it was held. We have won the Western Club Championship ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17 and ‘18.

Some of our ewes sold at this sale have bred an All Ireland champion for John Kelly and this year Brian Connellys ram lamb sold for 1400gns in Blessington.

Health Status The Chessy and Nilands flocks are scrapie monitored, are in the Heptavac-P system and are vaccinated with Enzovax and Toxovax. Scanning results will be available on the day.

Service Sires Nilands White Knight A son of Knock Ursus he was our best lamb in 2015. Due to an injury before Blessington he was retained for our own use. He was the most powerful lamb ever bred here weighing over 95kgs on the 1st of August 2015. White Knight was shown successfully in 2017 winning 1st prize aged ram West Texel Club Championships and 2nd prize at the National Championships. White Knight is one of the highest rated rams on the Sheep Ireland index, his tremendous carcass and growth rate are coming through his sons who are breeding mainly E and U grades for the Qualeutex scheme. A five star ram.

Blue Gates Avenger Purchased Lanark 2017 by the 8000gns Blue Gates Yogi Bear and a ewe by Cairness Perfection. Bought for his style, tight skin and tremendous head he is transferring those qualities to his progeny.

Strathbogie Boss Purchased in partnership for 7200gns Lanark 2018, by Mullan Armani out of a Strathbogie Untouchable ewe. Boss has bred very well in all five flocks averaging over 1000gns for his first 20 sons. His ewe lambs are even more impressive. A five star ram.

Mullan Blow Your Mind Purchased Lanark 2018 for 1300gns, a son of Knap Alligator out of a Glenside Willie Winkie ewe. Dam is full sister to 42000gns Mullan Armani and was herself sold for 5000gns in Lanark. A five star ram.

Thornville Texels Thornville Texel’s was found founded 18 years ago, our main success has come in recent years after investing in strong female lines, the most notable of these females would be “The Ettrick Ewe” she has left her mark on the flock, her first daughter receiving the reserve female champion in Blessington Premier sold for €2,000gns To Oberstown Texels where she bred €2,200, we were lucky to purchase a half share of this ewe back and we have a granddaughter in the sale today. The Ettrick ewe is also son’s to €3,000, grandsons to €4,400, €2,400, €2,100, €2000, €1,400, €1,100, €1,000. She has also left her mark in the show ring with her decedents with including the All Ireland Champion 2017, Premier Sale Female Champion and Over All 2016, Reserve Male Premier Sale Champion 2018 , her decedents featured in the 1st prize premier sale group of 3 2015,2016 and 2017. We are offering a number of females going back to her today. After the success of this line we purchased another ewe from Ettrick going back this line who is the mother of 4 of the entries.

One of the other main female lines in the goes back to HAK150861 which we purchased some exceptional lambs of which included Kilclamon Brody sold €5,000 and is 2019 Sire of the year. Two other sons sold for €2,200 and €1,100 and daughters to €2,500 (2019 Show ewe shearling), €1,500 and €800. Dan is full sister to the dam knock lamb sold to Hilltop this year for €30,000. Sire was Reserve Champion in Lanark!. We have 4 daughters of HAK 150861 in the sale.

Our greatest success to dates is seeing our genetics preforming well their new owners some recent success would, Liam Dillions Reserve overall champion Blessington 2018 sold 4,000, Thornville Alberto winning Reserve Male Champion All Ireland 2018 for the Greenhill flock. Sean Mc’Gees Yogi Bear Son sold €1,200 LambPlus sale 2018, Thornville Ace producing the Reserve North East Champion for Pearse Leonard 2018 and Springbridge Winning Novice Ram Lamb All Ireland 2017 out of a Thornville Sire and Dam. We were also delighted to see sons of 3 of the ewes we sold last year in this year’s premier sale.

This year’s females come from the best lines in the flock and are being sold in an effort to reduce numbers, we believe these will continue to grow on for their new owners due to the bad spring as lamb. We look forward to seeing how these ewes go on for their new owners and we hope they breed as well as we think they can.

Service Sires Plashucha Commander Purchased for £4,000 in Lanark, Sired the 7.5k Mullan, who sired lambs to 20k. We are very excited with this purchase and eagerly awaiting his progeny.

Greenhill Cowboy Purchased in Blessington this year for €3,000gns second highest price male! This ram has power, style and double five stars!

Emlach Flock The Emlach Flock reached new heights in 2019. Undoubtedly our most successful year to date.

Our top ewe PFI15080 – bred lambs that were placed 4th and 8th in the Open Ram Lamb Class at our National Championships held in Kilkenny. A ewe lamb from the same flush was also placed 4th in the Open Senior Ewe Lamb Class, also in Kilkenny. Emlach Campbell went on to win the Open Ram Lamb Class at the Premier Sale at Blessington, as well as going on to take Male Champion and Supreme Champion on the day. His ET brother, Emlach Carling, was 2nd in the Lamb Plus Class and our 3rd Ram Lamb made up the winning group of three Ram Lambs. Seven lambs out of PFI15080 have sold in 2019 to gross over 10K. A well made Tophill Wall Street daughter of PFI15080 is offered for sale at our collective in-lamb ewe sale to Sportsmans Alabama.

The Emlach Flock was established in 2005. The foundation ewes were purchased from the Chessy, Foundry and Oberstown flocks. Since then top quality ewes have been purchased privately from the Ballybrooney and the renowned British Claybury flocks. In recent years, with the help of embryo transfer work, we have taken the flock from strength to strength resulting in great successes in the show ring including All-Ireland Hogget Ewe 2011, All-Ireland Open Ram and Ewe Lamb 2012, All-Ireland Junior Ram Lamb 2013, 2nd place All Ireland Junior Ram Lamb 2015, Reserve Male Champion at the National Championships 2017 and 1st prize in Open Ram lamb at the South West Championships in Charleville 2018.

Donnelly Bavardage Purchased privately. Dam came in the belly of Knock’s top ewe at the

Select Seven sale 2014. Bavardage is full brother to the 2018 Blessington Champion, the 2017 All-Ireland Female Champion and Reserve Overall All-Ireland Champion. In 2018, another ET sister stood first in the Senior Ewe Lamb Class at the All-Ireland with two ET brothers taking first and second at the 2019 National Championships. The first prize Junior Ram Lamb was placed Reserve Male Champion. Full brothers have sold for 1800, 2100 and 2500. Bavardage has super colours with great length, size and muscle.

Emlach Carey A retained son of our top breeding ewe PFI15080. This maternal brother of the 2019 Blessington Champion has great presence, size and length. Carey has great character, tight skin and lovely white hair and colouring. We eagerly await his first crop of lambs.

Garngour Alabama Alabama has bred lambs to 100K – Sportsman’s Batman.

Knock Yardsman Yardsman is the sire of the 40k Garngour Alabama.

Wayside Topgun Dam of Topgun was the first prize ewe lamb at the Royal Highland. She was by

Ettrick Rainbow Warrior. He was an extremely correct ram with great size, carcass and skin.

Arkle You Star Purchased at Lanark 2016. Full brother sold at Lanark 2015 for 8,000gns and ET brother sold at Lanark 2016 for 20,000gns. Champion Shearling Ram at National Livestock Show Tullamore 2017.

Donnelly Flock The Donnelly Flock was established with the purchase of ewes from Tysaxon and Chessy flocks. Select ewes have been added to the flock since from the Ballybrooney & Derrylahan flocks and from the Forkins & Cherryvale flocks.

The flock has improved steadily with the help of embryo work in recent years, 2016 was a highlight winning 1st & 2nd Prize Senior Ewe Lambs & 1st Prize Junior Ewe Lamb at the All Irelands in Dundalk, with the 1st Prize Senior Ewe Lamb going on to be Reserve Overall Champion. In 2017 our three entries for the All Irelands all went on to win their respective classes, with one claiming All Ireland Female Champion and Reserve Overall Champion. In 2018 our two entries stood 1st and 4th in the Senior ewe lamb class making it three years in a row to win this class.

In 2019 our three entries for the All Irelands achieved two 1st Prizes in the Junior Ram Lamb & Ewe Lamb Classes, with the ram lamb going onto be Reserve Overal Male Champion. Our third entry stood 3rd in a strong Senior Ewe Lamb Class.

In the sales ring, 2017 was the highlight winning Reserve Blessington Champion with Donnelly Alonso selling for €4800, Alonso went on to breed this year’s Blessington Reserve Champion selling for €2400, with another son selling for €3000. Other rams from the flock sold for €1450 & €2020 in 2017, with females selling to €2400 in 2017. In 2018 ram lambs sold to top €1700 & €1800 with females selling to €1600 & €1800 also in 2018.

This year has seen ram lambs in Blessington sell for €1800, €2000 & €2100. In Carrick Second Main Sale one of our entries stood Overall Champion selling for €2000, this along with Ballinrobe Sale Overall Champion and Athenry Reserve Overall Champion. We offer five full sisters of Alonso at this years Inlamb Sale.

Annakisha Flock The Annakisha Flock was established in 2001. In 2004 we purchased ewes from the Claybury flock in England, which have had a marked influence on the flock. These ewes have been responsible for our major successes over the years. Most notably Supreme and Interbreed Champion at the All Ireland 2019. Reserve Female Champion All Ireland 2010 and 2012, Reserve Supreme Champion All Ireland 2011 and 1st Prize Aged Ewe All Ireland 2013 and 2015, 1st prize ram lamb and reserve male champion 2014, 2016 and champion junior ewe lamb 2018. Champion at Premier Sale 2010, Reserve Champion Premier Sale 2011 and 2014 and Champion Group of Three Premier Sale 2013 and 2014. Supreme Female Champion Premier Show and Sale 2017 and 2019 both sired by Claybury Warrior. The flock has also enjoyed championship success at numerous shows around the country, including National Livestock Show Tullamore 2012 and 2013 and reserve champion 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019. With a beautiful head and colours. He sired first Prize Junior Ram Lamb and Reserve Male Champion All Ireland 2016. He sired the 2nd prize shearling ewe at the Texel All Ireland 2017. He also sired the Supreme Female Champion at the Premier Show and Sale Blessington 2017 and 2019 and the first prize recorded ram lamb 2017 with sons selling to 2300gns and daughters selling to 2000gns and 2700gns.
