This research examines the architectural work of the contemporary Japanese architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, and their close relationship with the Japanese traditional architectural values. These are the values and principles that were mainly rooted in Zen philosophy. More specifically these values will be examined in the architectural dipoles: natural - artificial, space – emptiness, construction - deconstructio and material - immaterial substance in order to prove that the architectural work of SANAA - Sejima And Nishizawa And Associates - is experientially expressed based on the above principles.
