Accessible transport systems are essential for equality of opportunity for all people in society. Inequalities in the distribution of costs and benefits of transport-related infrastructure and services can contribute to the production and reproduction of social inequalities and levels of exclusion in cities. Low-income and other socially vulnerable populations are often forced to endure the negative effects of poor- quality transport, including longer journey times, and risk of traffic accidents. Last two decades transport and mobility plans and regulations in tend to incorporate increased social inclusion and equity as central objectives in their discourse. In this regard, this project aimed to explore levels of equity in transport-related accessibility to education in the Federal State of Thuringia.
