Banteer Tidy Towns: A Flourishing Community Effort

It’s been a productive few weeks for Banteer Tidy Towns who have achieved remarkable progress! Irish Rail generously sponsored two mural projects; one at Banteer Train Station and another at the Astro Turf dressing rooms. The pieces reflect love of the local area, past and present, sports and social activities, local biodiversity and nature, and the importance of arts and creativity.

The town welcomed Joanne Bissett, Stephen Hackett, and Steven Mangan (all from Irish Rail) who joined to witness the fruits of collective labour. The mural, designed by local children and artist Theresa Roche, now graces the Train Station and dressing rooms. Irish Rail kindly presented the young artists with rail travel vouchers - a delightful surprise for their creativity and effort.

Topline Burtons Kanturk deserves applause for their unwavering support. They gifted both Banteer and Kanturk Tidy Towns groups with essential gardening equipment and products. Evan and Catriona, the driving forces behind Topline Burtons, have been instrumental. Catriona’s expertise in plant selection ensures that every addition contributes to biodiversity. Their Garden Centre’s range of plants and shrubs is a testament to their commitment.

Banteer Tidy Towns also recieved generous donations from Kathryn Revitt and Twohig’s Super Valu Kanturk who deserve special mention.

The dedicated volunteers are the backbone of Banteer Tidy Towns. Up to 15 individuals gather twice a week, tackling tasks like strimming, weeding, planting, painting, and watering. Their work transforms our community.

Banteer Tidy Towns thrives because of these collective efforts.
