B.Sc Economics (3rd year)
Manifesto If elected as Treasurer I will ensure that the students of this campus will be given a truthful representation of the financial status and wellbeing of the SRC. The current SRC has set in motion foundations of improvement, but far more can be achieved with that set foundation and a few new initiatives that will fulfil the needs of the students. I believe student leadership should set an example to the rest of campus by assisting students in every way possible.
Manifesto When it comes to finances we are faced with issues that include the ever so worrying de-registration of students and coupled with that, I believe is the other serious battle of mismanagement of funds by students(we all know them…they used to buy Die Deli everyday beginning of the year and now there is no cent to their name). These are some of the issues that have ignited my interest to stand for this portfolio and therefore believe that I could contribute by implementing the following during my term of office.
“Your interest is my mandate, that’s all that matters…”
“Transparency, the Currency that counts!”

“Bringing you an accountable, effective and reliable SRC.”
Manifesto: I am driven towards ensuring that the SRC is a true representative and champion of student issues and to focus resources towards making the environment of the student as conducive as is needed and to create platforms in which students can actively participate and have a voice in processes, structures and decisions that affect their successes as a future Kovsie graduate. To develop active student leadership and an active and accountable SRC. I am standing for an accountable Student Representative Council but most essentially an SRC that is responsive to needs of the students. “Vote for a Student Responsible Council!!! Vote Nigel Masalla!!!”

B. Social Work (3rd year)
Manifesto To serve in a responsible, honest and fair way so that I can be an example for others. ...THE SRC IS: Inclusiveness: Any student should be able to voice their opinion to the SRC. Serving the students: The SRC should not use more resources than it creates. Thus the SRC should show a net profit of resources, not a net loss. Empowerment: To teach skills I possesses of to other and to learn from others. Encourage critical thinking among students. To be an ambassador for the University of the Free State.
Manifesto A lot has been done and a lot is yet to be done - my perception on transformational leadership.
“INCLUSIVE, SERVING AND EMPOWERING STUDENTS (ISE)”
This ‘doing’ is not a single-handed responsibility of the elected SRC of a certain term, but rather the collaborative effort of the entire university population. This includes all the students living off campus, student who are enrolled in day/city residences as well as the students living in senior and junior residences. I, therefore, stand for the solidarity of all the students of the University of the Free State in the long term transformation of the institution. I am passionate. I am dedicated. I am not only committed to the idea on an SRC that truly represents the students' voice, but also excited by it. “Students. Solidarity. Transformation.”

Manifesto My vision is to bring you a reliable and accountable Student Representative council that will selflessly champion student's interest and deal with issues. An SRC that will ensure that students remain central always. An SRC that will create a platforms for speaking about issues without being silenced. I will ensure that : There SRC members are held accountable through the student parliament and other means and the parliament on its own its fully functioning and has regular sittings. Ensure that through policy the SRC is obliged to raise funds for students.
LL.B (5th year)
B.Sc Actuarial Science (Final year) Manifesto I deem very central the need to keep the office of the treasurer as transparent, honest, accountable and with the highest degree of integrity as possible. As Treasurer, I intend to advocate for students’ fair representation in terms of their fiscal standing within the University (provisional registration, textbook subsidy etc.) To also broaden the office’s scope of responsibility from too narrowed administrative office work to also, more ‘hands-on’ responsibilities running projects like fundraising; planning business seminars; and debate sessions around the issues of financial architecture that impacts on students. Similarly, to extend and diversify the source base for SRC funds. “Bank on me and I will treasure your vote.”

Recognised student representation in all forums of the university (including South Campus). Consumer protection: Accommodation and Food service providers. Policy review: Replacement and Placement. Safety of students on and off campus.

B.A Governance and Political Transformation (3rd year) The philosophy for success is based on the premises that leadership is a process, not an event”. For transformation to occur it must commence with individuals”. To me, transformation process means reassessing this University, and then taking action on transforming and moulding it to be the best it can be. Being elected into office I will work in cooperation with all the SRC portfolios and the Institute for Reconciliation and Social Justice to ensure that the voices of students, both on and off campus, are heard. We are the change we want to see and our power comes from unity I am passionate. I am dedicated. I am not only committed to the idea on an SRC that truly represents the students' voice, but also excited by it. “For our tomorrow, we take action today!”
