Codelth: Code for Health Hackathon Call for Participants I.
Introduction
Digital transformation is revolutionising healthcare in many ways, including the pharmaceutical industry, which specialises in the discovery, development, and manufacture of medications. The use of information technology is a key step in transforming the pharmaceutical industry to achieve better disease management by supplying drugs for treatment. Healthcare information technology (HIT) has been defined as “the application of information processing that deals with the storage, retrieval, sharing, and use of healthcare information, data, and knowledge for communication and decision making” (Alotaibi et al., 2017). Through the early introduction of healthcare information technology, we envision a future generation of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists who are well-versed in the language of technology and possess the ability to apply these skills in the medication provision. Therefore, we are introducing the newest collaborative initiative of two Professional Development portfolios, namely Industrial Skills Event and Pharmacy Profession Advocacy, to all members of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation -- Code for Health Hackathon.
