2020 Keynote Speaker

Ashley Judd A celebrated box office star, Ashley Judd is a Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actress, as well as a humanitarian with a focus on gender equality. Judd was featured in TIME Magazine’s 2017 Person of the Year issue honoring “The Silence Breakers”. Judd is also the widely published author of the memoir “All that is Bitter and Sweet”. Fiercely committed to social justice, Judd functions as the Global Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Fund for Population Activities and is a global voice for women around the world. Judd is currently a Leader in Practice at the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

2020 Linda L. Ruffolo Award Honoree

Debra Niezer Debra Niezer is a professional business leader who cares deeply about supporting our community. A Fort Wayne native through and through, she has given back to the place she calls home for over 40 years by volunteering her time and talents. Deb is genuine in her quest to make a difference through her board work with the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as service to Bishop Dwenger High School, Tower Bank, Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority, the University of St. Francis, and Erin’s House.

Deb worked in banking for 13 years, both in Fort Wayne and LaPorte, Indiana managing trust departments and employee benefits. She is now the Chief Operating Officer for her family’s business, AALCO Distributing Company. She and her brother Greg Dahm are proud to be the third generation to carry on the business, which has been in operation since 1949. She is also excited to welcome the fourth generation of family to carry on the tradition as the area’s leading wholesale beer distributors.

Deb’s husband of 44 years, Barney, also shares in her love of giving back to the community. The couple has two married daughters, Laura and Katie, along with four grandchildren, Luke, Jude, Grace and Bernie, who all live in Fort Wayne. Deb enjoys traveling, golf, babysitting and spending time at Lake Wawasee with family. Her travels include Costa Rica, Maui, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and soon to be Alaska.

Deb has a balanced life of family, faith, compassion, positive attitude, community service and career that make her a valued member of our community. As a 2011 “Pink Power Player” in the Vera Bradley Classic, she represented an extraordinary survivor, making a difference in breast cancer awareness. Through her years of service and leadership, Deb has touched the lives of many and looks forward to much more time spent with family and friends. Tapestry honors Debra Niezer with the Linda L. Ruffalo Dedication Award at this year’s celebration as an inspiration to women of all ages because of her dedication to our community, her professionalism and her genuine commitment to her family and friends.

1 | Ronald Elsenbaumer joined Purdue Fort Wayne as chancellor in November 2017. Prior to coming to Fort Wayne, he served the University of Texas at Arlington for more than 25 years. Elsenbaumer earned a B.S. in chemistry from Purdue and a Ph.D. from Stanford.

1 | Ben Miles, President, Parkview Regional Medical Center & Affiliates Ben Miles joined Parkview in 2012 as VP of Operations and was named president of PRMC & Affiliates in 2015.

Ben is proud to serve the community through his role on a number of local and statewide boards and councils.

He has a B.A. in Corporate Finance from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan and an MBA from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan.

4 | Dr. Thomas Lorenc is a board certified OB-GYN with Women’s Health Advantage who has practiced medicine in Fort Wayne since 1998. He earned a medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, completed an OBGYN residency at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, and earned an MBA at The George Washington University. Dr. Lorenc is the Medical Director of A Hope Center and a volunteer physician at Matthew 25 and Neighborhood Health Clinic.

5 | Brian J. Lee, MD, FACS, is a boardcertified plastic surgeon, artist and medical missionary who has served the Fort Wayne area since 1994. His goal is to help his patients realize their full potential by tailoring treatments to personalized goals.

6 | James Ball, the co-owner of Peter Franklin Jewelers, has experience in all aspects of the jewelry business, from manufacturing and repair to buying loose gemstones. His training includes earning a B.A. in Business from Indiana University, and attending the Gemological Institute of America GIA and Gem City College.

7 | Drew Lanphear graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University. He also holds a Certified Financial Planning certification and has dedicated all of his professional time to help clients manage their wealth, both in Fort Wayne and Chicago.

7 | Ian Boyce has been providing financial planning and wealth management advice to clients since 1999. He holds a B.A. degree in Zoology with a minor in Economics from the University of Vermont. B | John O'Connell, is a Professor of Theatre and the Dean of Purdue Fort Wayne's College of Visual and Performing Arts. Some Purdue directing credits include, Waiting for Godot, Wonderful Town, Noises Off!, The Taming of the Shrew, King Lear and All My Sons. John has had many professional productions from St. Petersburg, FL. to the Circuit Playhouse in Memphis, TN. His previous shows include Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Heroes.

C |Tamyra Kelly is Founder/ CEO of Live Free, LLC, a national preaching, teaching, and outreach organization actively accomplishing its mission through workshops, seminars, mentorship, and hands‐on intervention. She is currently the Public Information Officer for East Allen County Schools and also serves on the Steering Committee for Fort Wayne United and as a co‐chair for the Education Committee.

She is the Founder of the “Go Get Your Towel Back” annual women’s conference that serves nearly 1,000 women annually. She is a graduate of Indiana University.

D | Jill Zahm, RN, MSN, AHN-BC serves as the Her Heart program coordinator for Parkview Heart Institute. Jill holds a master’s degree in Nursing from Ball State University and is certified as a Faith Community Nurse and Advanced Holistic Nurse.

D | Samantha Kauffman, MA, RD, CD, is a Registered Sports Dietitian with Parkview Sports Medicine and has over a decade of experience working with active individuals and those looking to improve their overall health.

F | Jane Francis is a Business Development Specialist/RN from StoryPoint Fort Wayne. She worked in a hospital/health care setting for over 17 years before transitioning to marketing/ sales where she led a team based in Dallas, Texas. At StoryPoint, she’s been able to combine these professional experiences and now works to educate the greater Fort Wayne area about the benefits of senior living.

F | Dr. Matthew Shambaugh, a board-certified plastic surgeon, enjoys providing cosmetic services, skin care, and performing non-surgical and surgical procedures to help his patients become the best version of themselves.
