Certificate in Applied Leadership The Applied Leadership certificate is designed to support professionals working in a community-based setting who desire to develop their capacity as innovators, problem-solvers, and effective community leaders. The Applied Leadership certificate program guides participants through four tracks beginning with: (1) an examination of applied leadership, (2) the importance of leveraging emotional intelligence to maximize individual and organizational effectiveness, (3) the utilization of lateral thinking to execute mission-aligned strategy, and (4) the role of project management to effectively manage large scale, social impact projects. Participants may complete each track separately, but must complete all four program tracks to earn the Certificate in Applied Leadership.

Who Should Attend: Non-profit organizations, community-based organizations working in the areas of human services, social services, or education-related settings.

Prerequisite: Bachelor’s Degree required. Prior experience working in a non-profit or community-based setting is recommended, but not required.

Professional Certificate in Digital Media So, you’re pretty good with a camera, but you know you could learn so much more about shooting techniques and editing. Maybe you have an interest in web design or video production, but you don’t want to get a four-year degree. The Professional Certificate in Digital Media offers a unique opportunity to build a certificate around your interests.

Whether you’re looking for a career change or to pick up a side job, this certificate will give you the credentials necessary to market your talents.

When calculated into hourly rates, a freelance photographer charges on average between $150 and $250 per hour depending on expertise and credentials. While rates vary, a freelance videographer charges on average about $20 per hour to film and an additional $40-$150 per hour for editing.

Introduction to Statistical Computing with R R is a programming language and a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics.

The R language is widely used in data science and statistics, machine learning, and data analytics. This course will introduce professionals to the R programming language and environment. You’ll be introduced to R data structures, some built-in data manipulation, statistics and probability functions, and several basic programming constructs. You’ll also learn how to import data, install external packages, and how to produce highquality graphics.

Finally, we will illustrate the workflow with a statistical analysis of a small data set that will include data cleaning, exploratory data analyses, producing graphics, fitting a simple statistical model, and assessing the results. Fundamentals of CNC Machining Certificate

The demand for qualified CNC operators is growing quickly in northeast Indiana. To meet this demand, Purdue University Fort Wayne developed the Fundamentals of CNC Machining Certificate program. Gain a working knowledge of basic machining practices as well as a knowledge of CNC code that will allow you to write programs and make program edits, rather than just loading a part and hitting the start button. Upon completion of this certificate, you will become more versatile and more valuable to a prospective employer, and you will obtain a new skill set to build on as you continue to grow in your career.

Course 1: Beginning Machining (5 sessions)

In this course on machine shop safety, discussion will center on proper usage and care of conventional machinery. Participants will learn about the use of measuring tools used in the machine shop, including simple but defining projects using horizontal and vertical bandsaws, manual lathes, mills, drilling, and tapping.

Participants will also practice defining feed and speed, as well as how to arrive at the proper thought process to achieve accurate cutting conditions. Light descriptions of tooling and their uses, and chip formation will be covered. This class is designed to provide an overview for the hobbyist, auto enthusiast, or industrial workers that are looking for a place to start.

Course Highlights: - Metal cutting (sawing horizontal/vertical) - Manual lathe and mill operation - Shop measuring practices - Tool geometry and uses thereof

Course 2: Introduction to CNC Machining (5 sessions)

Initial topics to be covered are horizontal or vertical bandsaw, drill press, lathe operation, using the lathe to form threads, and mill operations.

Following these manual operations, CNC coordinate systems, tool offsets and functions, and other introductory CNC topics will be covered.

This course is designed to be valuable to shop owners and industrial workers needing more familiarity with CNC machining, engineers needing a more complete understanding of shop floor practices and calculations, and CNC operators who need a better understanding of the components and execution of a CNC program.

Course Highlights: - Metal cutting (horizontal/vertical bandsaw) - Drill press (speed calculations) - Milling (speed calculations, climb/conventional milling) - Lathe operation (speed calculations, tool setting, feed rate, thread cutting)

Course 3: Intermediate CNC Machining (5 sessions)

This course will cover more advanced topics of CNC machining using the Purdue University Fort Wayne HAAS Technical Education Center (HTEC). Advanced M and G code programming, moving into 4th and 5th axis machining, and an introduction in CAD/CAM systems will be covered followed by hands-on experience in the HTEC center. This course builds on the Introduction to CNC Machining course and is designed to provide more detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of CNC machining.
