PERSONAL ENRICHMENT Elements of Painting: Introduction A successful painting needs a foundation, just as a home cannot stand without the underlying structure to support it. Discover the 6 basic elements for successful oil painting and explore what makes a painting great through lectures, studio assignments, and field trips.

Painting 101: Demystifying Oil Color Mixing – NEW! Did you know that you can mix an infinite number of colors with only 3 to 6 paints, plus white?

The concepts are the same for all wet mediums, but this introductory class will focus on oils. You will learn what to mix to get the color you want for your paintings. Students will learn about paint qualities and the physiological and scientific aspects of color mixing through lectures, demonstrations, and exercises.

Building Resources with Self-Compassion – NEW! We all are compassionate people, yet we tend to exclude ourselves from our own circle of care—often being much harsher with ourselves than we are with anyone else. And that has consequences as far as our own happiness and how we affect those around us. In this course, we’ll explore what selfcompassion is, and how it does or does not show up in your life.

We’ll then learn ways to cultivate it that can be used to support ourselves when difficulties arise.

Introduction to Photography Increase your ability to take better photos, regardless of the type of camera. Topics such as composition, lighting, and exposure will be discussed in order to gain a better understanding of photography. Learn how to upload files to a computer and minor post-production techniques to prepare files for printing or display. Students taking this course may use all types of cameras, including cell phones.

Italian Language and Culture for Travelers: Beginning II This course is a continuation of “Italian Language and Culture for Travelers: Beginning I.” The instructor will focus on the use of language by introducing new topics of grammar, such as new verb tenses and by encouraging students to learn vocabulary and build sentences. Each topic will be practiced and cultural components will be part of the course as well. Students will learn more vocabulary and grammar concepts while practicing conversation and reading skills.

Join Instructor and native Italian, Ilaria Piccinini, for a unique introduction to delicious Italian cuisine. In this course, students will be guided through the preparation of various traditional Italian dishes. Additionally, students will learn about Italian culture and traditions as well as cooking-related vocabulary by exploring and savoring selected regional dishes.

French Conversation: Beginning I Course activities and conversations will have you communicating comfortably in French in no time. To make the class fun and enjoyable, discussions will include your likes and dislikes, family information, abilities and desires, and leisure activities. In addition, you will learn about the history and culture of French-speaking peoples and interact directly with native speakers.

French Conversation: Beginning II This course is a continuation of French Conversation: Beginning I and focuses on conversational French, pronunciation, and correct grammar for effective communication. The course is taught in an interactive style and includes an overview of French cultures.

German: Beginner This course will introduce beginners to German, including: pronunciation, basic vocabulary, basic grammar, and beginning reading literacy. The course will be taught for two hours at each meeting: the first hour focusing on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and speaking; while the second hour will focus on reading proficiency.

German: Intermediate This course will introduce intermediate individuals to more complex German, including: expanded vocabulary, complex grammar, and furthering reading literacy. This class, taught by a professional voice talent with years of experience, will examine opportunities in the industry of voice-over and discuss what it takes to become successful. Using video and audio examples to bring the information to life, you will learn what you need to get started, from equipment to skills needed, and where to find work. Voice-Over 102 – NEW! Prerequisite: Voice-Over 101 This advanced class will explore concepts to take your knowledge to the next level. Learn techniques to captivate listeners, be able to sound like an authority on any subject, and learn how to analyze scripts the way professional actors do to deliver a performance that clients will happily hire for again and again. Students will read prepared scripts with the instructor, helping shape and perfect their performance. Also included will be information on finding clients, how to approach them, and what you’ll need to get hired.

Ceramics: Wood and Soda Firing Make various pottery forms to be fired in our new hybrid wood/ soda kiln. We will enjoy the results of both wood and soda-fired ceramic surfaces from the same firing! Participants will learn how to glaze and prepare pottery for wood/soda firings, as well as learn how to load and fire the kiln. The course is open to all levels and will consist of demonstrations and open studio work time for participants.

Ceramics: Pie Plates and Casserole Dishes – NEW! Create your own pie plates and casserole dishes just in time for the holidays! Understand how your passion, theme, premise, and characters help to create the structure of your story, and discover how viewpoint, dialogue, pacing, and many other techniques are used to build scenes and move your story from beginning to end. Each assignment helps develop your own original novel or story.

As you apply each technique, your story will take shape, with a clear path from beginning to end.

CPR/AED/First Aid The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR & AED Training Class is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO). A CPR certification card will be distributed following successful completion of the class.

Choose the option that best meets your needs: CPR/AED/First Aid - $70 (4 hours), CPR/AED only $50 (3 hours) - Fee includes materials.
