A Concept Design/ Mobile Coffee Vehicle An accessible mobile coffee vehicle to design for people going to go work or university at early times of mornings.

RESEARCH Age

Sex

Cold and sweet kinds of coffee, or drinks with milk are favorable between teenagers.

The sample group does not include anyone under 18.

Mostly preferred soft beverages during winter

Frequency of drinking coffee

According to our observations,

Turkish coffee is the most preferred coffee at evenings.

Preferences for drinking coffee at the store that has been bought from, take away and drinking at another place Individuals who have no time problem tend to stay at shops while drinking coffee

Cold coffees are the mostly preferred ones for youngsters.

Majority of the sample group want to enjoy drinking coffee while they are on public

transportation.

Mostly preferred soft beverages during summer

Locational preference of sample group on where to drink coffee

Location and age affects the preferences of some drinks.

Majority of the sample group does not prefer coffee places those are loudy, crowded and constricted environments.

It has been found that the sample groupprefer to drink their coffee in outdoorrecreational areas such as public parks or

seasides.

Coffee served as stale and low quality is one of the most common complaints.

Purpose

According to our observations, our related customer who sold coffee has older people as their customers more. There will be a specified new concept to be of the target group’s interests. We aimed that the group who are younger and had not them yet by the brand.

Need

The target group, who is going to go to work or school at early times of mornings, complained about that they couldn’t find a store to buy a coffee at these times.

People want to take away their coffees to drink on roads because they have to catch some public transportations insted of drinking with enjoy while sitting on a place.

Projected locations and times may be caused the customers that are not even their competitors’ owned.

Essential equipments will be to make more strong coffees for custormers trying to wake up.

Accessible mobile coffee vehicle is for employees or students who cannot ďŹ nd open places in the early times of mornings.

Organizer Speed is the most important factor for our sample group. So, installation, service and payment should be in fashion that is at the speedest. For the sake of quicj installation, top of the truck opens up and acts as sun shade, while the bottom part functions as counter.

For the barista to serve at the fastest speed, he/she should have complete command.

For fast payment, payment methods such as Sodexo, credit cards, the app, brand’s own card and cash will be used.

AURORA

Lighting Family for METU Campus An outdoor lighting product family that illuminates harmoniously its natural and unnatural environments, based on its compatibility with forested lands and the outdoor features of METU Campus.

RESEARCH

According to the field observations made at METU Campus, an insufficiency of outdoor lighting is seen in the area, which could be a problemfor the campus dwellers using the pathways.

Another problem with the lighting system of METU Campus is that the current illuminants could enlight only their own circular areas. Because they do not have any gradient to light through different angles, the illuminants might seem insufficient.

INSPIRATION

Aurora is inspired by the trees in the campus, which relates to the METU identity. The Tree Planting Ceremonies held yearly and The Tree of Science (sculpture at the campus entrance) are some of the excellent reflections of this nature-friendly identity.

Trees’ blossoming in spring is also a reason to create such a nature-inspired design.

FINALIZATION Similar to the bollard, I tried to mount the armature to the pole top. Additionally, the “D Form” of the profile used for the armatures fits perfectly to the wall mount.

Aurora is a name steming from Greek and Roman mythologies, which means the Goddess of Dawn. It is a classic, elegant, and poetic name, just like the spiritual atmosphere that METU Campus provides.

RELATION WITH ENVIRONMENT Boughs can arborise and surround their areas; therefore, I tried to design a bollard to brighten its surrounding through different angles.

NAZENİN

Tea Serving Set/ Tea Glass, Saucer, and Sugar Bowl A tea set which gives an attractive option for an ordinary tea serving through a new form and different color selections. Meaning “slim” or “gentle” in Turkish, Nazenin has a delicate and aesthetical design.

In the design phase, I got the inspiration from the strong, spirited Anatolian women with a touch of some delicacy.

RESEARCH

The modern designs of the Turkish tea glasses share a common, standardised shape. This idea actually comes from a stereotyped “sense of beauty� of a female body, which is generally adopted by the urbanised society. The shape actually demonstrates a stereotyped and highly urbanised beauty conception, which primarily focuses on the proportions of a female body.

INSPIRATION However, beauty should not be limited to the body proportions. True beauty can be hidden in the power, just as it is hidden in the shoulders of a strong Anatolian woman.

Therefore, woman is the most inspirational target group by designing this set. Because its design reects both the spirited and fragile sides of a woman just like a tea glass, Nazenin might be a the center of attraction,

IDEATION

FINALIZATION Owing to its variety of colours, Nazenin gives the chance to create the customers’ own style in their kitchen. The pieces of the sets can be changed according to the customers’ liking. In addition, with its curvy glasses and the vivid design of the other components, Nazenin blends the conventional and the modern in one serving set, which makes it much more attractive than the other equivalents.

System Design for Stray Dogs A system design for tracking pets and stray animals to protect them against their death and to prevent against their uncontrollable growth.

PROBLEM

THINGS TO DO

Stray animals live in dire conditions on streets. In recent years, number of stray animals increased dramatically. Most important reason for this pets thrown to street by their very owners, and unregulated mating between them.

Additionally, once-pet stray animals cannot stay alive in streets, since they don’t know street conditions, and their immune systems did not develop accordingly.

Microchip, a device enables tracking of animals, which its usage is made compulsory.

Dog passport (This e-passport enables access to info regarding dogs such as born-death, age, strain, change of owners, physical qualities, address, vaccine)

MICROCHIPS Obligatory use of Microchip Technology for Pets and Stray Dogs Our proposition suggests that it will be illegal to buy or sell a pet without a microchip. This application will prevent breeding and inhumane production of pet animals.

It will be legally binding for vets to inject the chip to animals which they assist birth of.

It will be required for owners to check in their pets for regular controls, thus pregnancy status and population control will be ensured.

For the stray dogs, a specialized collar will be made worn in addition to chip.

For pregnant dogs, To detect animals which are due for birth.

The main regime for offspring animals is sharing them between the owners of male and female parent animals. Injection process for chips to newborn animals will be under the responsibility of respective owners.

Number of expected offsprings will be determined by ultrasound.

For the case of offspring death, a veterinary report will be prepared.

THE MICROCHIP READER

All stray dogs should be made worn with this collar after age 1.

The collar will be utilized to mark whether the animal lives on street and under care of the government.

The microchip reader can read the chip which is located on the dogs, and provides the identiďŹ cation number. Thus, whether the dog has an owner or not will be revealed.

SCENARIO

The Enforcements Against the Irresponsible Owners If dogs escape Each dog that has an owner is supposed to have address and owner information embedded on the microchip. Initially, If the dog escapes, the owner should report the missing dog and it shall be returned to the owner by attendants. If the owner does not notify authorities, it shall becounted as misdoing and penalized.

If a dog will be throw in the street If the dog is thrown to street intentionally by the owner, or if the owner is not able to take care of the dog, it will be taken away by the state and given to another owner.

The Attendant If the attendant sees a dog that does not have a collar, the microchip will be used to

identify the owner.

If the chip is removed In case of any anomaly of the signal, or disruption on recieval of it will cause an alert at central authority.

In case a civilian reports a loose dog, the attendant will go and check the dog.

DOGS HOTEL

The hotel is a living area created for the well being of pets those are left to streets.

The dogs that have been taken from the wrongdoer owners or thrown in the street will live here until they are readopted.

The owner who owns the dogs from the hotel have to pay the maintenance costs until that day.

Previous wrongdoer owner will be penalized ďŹ nancially, for the time spent by animal at the facility, until it readopted again.

Lost dogs will stay here until they are found by their owner and their costs will be covered by their owners.

For the left out animals whose owners are found via chip, penalty will be imposed.

The owners who does not fulďŹ ll their responsibilities will be banned from animal ownership for ten years

To avert any misundertandings, owners should walk their dogs with collars.

Obliqueness of the layout enables the user to reach every piece on the cooktop easily.

Thanks to the handles, user can hold the body safely while moving the coffee pot into the sand.

With its whiteness and grey contours, ALBA ďŹ ts with the modern kitchen environment.

This accessibility allows the user to move safely and prevents potenital hazardous situations.

By closing the lid, it can be stored easily when not in use.

It matches with kitchen benchtop and other appliances and creates uniformed appearance.

The inspiration comes from traditional copper coffee pot “bakır cezve”. Pots curves reflect Cezve’s traditional form in perspective.

The Secret Shelves are located in the vegetable and fruit drawers. The shelves enable user to conserve sensitive vegatables such as strawberries, or tomatoes.

The door could be opened when an older people touch the sensor.

Details Seats for the elderly people come through outside, near them.

The ramp can be opened for them automatically, without any help from other passengers.

A physical disabled person can be able to rise up through the inside of the bus with the ramp.

Then the door closes after the older person gets on the bus.

They can sit down if they want to take a rest with the third position of the unit.

There are sections that are individually defined in the public seating units and also prevent uncontrolled movement of the passenger during the journey.

All door can be opened with these directions, so all people can get on the bus at the same time.

Thanks to its curved top surface, it is important for safety to be adjustable at the desired angle.

Concept 1 Problem: There are some problems about transportation system for the blind people.

According to my interviews, and my observations, blind people suffered from the unsystematic transportation ways.

Suggested Solutions Positioned rotational ultrasound sensor at grip part to scan 360 area.

Joystick part at the top is provide using and changing the menu to help above problems.

Spherical wheel is provide users to scan easily.

Intergrated with smartphone to search somewhere location.

It has some sensing systems such as LIDAR, echolocation, and infrared technology.
