he mobile gasometric bell of Grenoble (Ref. opening photo) can store 3,100 cubic meters of biogas; this is produced by the treatment-methanation of the sludge coming from the plant treating the waste water of Grenoble and the surrounding municipalities – a total of approximately 300,000 inhabitants. The biogas is used to heat such sludge in order to accelerate its reduction and to provide fuel to the furnace burning the sludge and turning it into ash; the residual gas, after a specific treatment, is recirculated into the city gas network to provide for about 2,500 users per year. This is in fact a huge mobile, vertically moving steel bell, with a 24-metre diameter, a 9,350-metre height and a 120-ton weight.

a campana mobile gasometrica di Grenoble (rif. foto d’apertura) è finalizzata allo stoccaggio di 3.100 metri cubi di biogas prodotto dall’impianto di trattamento-metanizzazione dei fanghi risultanti dal trattamento delle acque reflue di Grenoble e dei comuni limitrofi, complessivamente circa 300.000 abitanti. Il biogas viene utilizzato per riscaldare i fanghi in modo da accelerarne la riduzione, per fornire combustibile alla fornace che brucia i fanghi e li trasforma in cenere mentre il gas residuo, dopo specifico trattamento, viene immesso nella rete gas della città per fornire circa 2.500 utenze all’anno. Si tratta in effetti di una enorme campana mobile, a scorrimento verticale, in acciaio, con 24 metri di diametro e 9.350 metri d’altezza e del peso di 120 ton.,
