BYK-GARDNER ACCREDITED BY INDEPENDENT EXPERTS - ISO/IEC 17025:2005 BYK-Gardner accreditata da esperti indipendenti - ISO/IEC 17025:2005 eretsried, 12th June 2011 The testing and calibration laboratories of BYK-Gardner – worldwide partner of the automotive, paint and plastic industries for quality control of colour, appearance and physical properties – have been accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025:2005. With the accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025 independent experts have confirmed that measurements carried out with BYK-Gardner instruments not only comply with international standards, but are also comparable among each other. Being an internationally operating company with locations among others in Germany and the USA, the American company ACLASS was appointed to carry out the accreditation. The scope, the field of application includes the following indicators resp. instruments and standards: - Gloss: all instruments, e.g. micro-gloss - Colour: all instruments, e.g. spectro-guide, BYK-mac and three-angle instruments - Haze: all instruments, e.g. haze-gard - Transmission: all instruments, e.g. haze-gard - Clarity: all instruments, e.g. haze-gard - Wave/DOI: all instruments, e.g. wave-scan With the accreditation, both in the USA and in Germany BYK-Gardner is in the same position as a certified laboratory. Thus BYK-Gardner belongs to the few specialized laboratories worldwide, which are formally on the same level as NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology in the USA) or NRC (National Research Council in Canada) for gloss measurement and as PTB (PhysikalischTechnische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig, Germany) or NPL (National Physical Laboratory in UK) for colour measurement. Regarding Wave/DOI measurement with the accreditation – which is unique all over the world – the BYK-Gardner producer standards are now recognized as worldwide standards.
