AIM ORGANIZES THE EUROCORR 2014 IN PISA AIM organizza EUROCORR 2014 a Pisa

IM (Associazione Italiana di Metallurgia) will host EUROCORR 2014, the annual event of the EFCEuropean Federation of Corrosion, which will be held in Pisa, Italy, from 8 - 12 September 2014. This premier meeting on corrosion will return to the same land Italy - where the Latin author Pliny the Elder for the first time coined the phrase “ferrum corrumpitur”. Scope of the Congress is to present the state-of-the-art in the fields of corrosion and protection of materials, starting from the ones used in the past those destined to modern industry, both from a technical-scientific as well as from a practical application perspective. The event is meant to foster the transfer of information and experiences among researches and operators in the fields of corrosion and to benefit from collaboration and common enrichment. The main theme of EUROCORR 2014 will be “Improving materials durability: from cultural heritage to industrial applications”. The Congress will be staged at the Palazzo dei Congressi, located a few steps away from the historical center of Pisa. The medieval Tuscan city - well known all over the world for its unique 14th century Leaning Tower - is a principal destination in Italy for international tourism and it is abundant in important artistic and architectural treasures and beautiful surroundings, it

IM (Associazione Italiana di Metallurgia) organizza EUROCORR 2014, l’evento annuale della EFC (European Federation of Corrosion), che si terrà a Pisa, dall’ 8 al 12 settembre 2014, presso il Palazzo dei Congressi. Il Congresso europeo sulla “corrosione” torna quindi nella terra - l’Italia in cui Plinio il Vecchio coniò il termine “ f e r r u m corrumpitur”. La Toscana, terra che per millenni ha legato la propria fortuna all’estrazione dei minerali e che è apprezzata per lo splendore dei suoi paesaggi e monumenti, si appresta dunque ad ospitare questo ciclo di conferenze, che ha consolidato un’enorme importanza e prestigio a livello internazionale. Obiettivo del Congresso sarà quello di mettere in rilievo gli sviluppi scientifici e tecnologici per il controllo della corrosione; in particolare il tema principale di EUROCORR 2014 sarà: “Improving materials durability: From cultural heritage to industrial applications”. Con 750 memorie sottoposte e oltre 480 presentazioni orali a programma, per EUROCORR 2014 è prevista una partecipazione di 900 esperti del settore proveniente da tutto il mondo. Il programma del Congresso, che sarà presieduta da Lorenzo Fedrizzi, Luciano Lazzari e Arjan Mol comprenderà presentazioni plenarie, keynote e presentazioni orali articolate in sessioni tecniche che faran-
