ncreasing regulatory pressures and economic demands over the past decade have resulted in a growing focus within the protective coatings industry on ensuring formulations pose as little risk as possible to both the environment and human health. This is, in part, due to the European Union’s introduction of the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals) legislation, which requires the registration of all substances manufactured or supplied in volumes of one tonne or more (Fig. 1). Its aim is to collect information on hazards posed by these chemicals and ensure appropriate measures are put in place to control 14

Ciò è in parte dovuto all’introduzione della legislazione REACH (registrazione, valutazione, autorizzazione e restrizione delle sostanze chimiche) dell’Unione Europea, che prevede la registrazione di tutte le sostanze prodotte o fornite in volumi di una tonnellata o più (fig. 1).
