Never in the history of clinical trials have sponsors— and the sites with which they contract— been held to higher standards to ensure real diversity, equity and inclusion in their clinical trials. Whether this heightened accountability is the byproduct of evolving federal guidelines, an economic decision, or a calculus driven by science, the outcomes that matter most are those measured in real people. But we know we’re preaching to the choir. We can make a difference for you
There is just no arguing these points:
Patients of color and other underrepresented demographic categories need better access to the clinical trials you are conducting. We exist to ensure real-time, face-to-face, site-oriented, patient-centric solutions, we provide truly impactful access points where few existed prior.
As a community-based participatory engine, iParticipate shows up on your behalf and puts faces on the “who” of participating in clinical trials.
iParticipate is innovative, deliberate, and vested in bridging cultural divides regarding clinical trials. We drive home the impact of showing up, creating meaningful connections, and delivering compelling, nuanced messaging that humanizes each study to make participation relevant— and essential!
No other entity delivers in 3D. Full stop.
You are hereby granted access to greater access. The core purpose of this dynamic tool is to put everything you need to enhance DEI-rich patient recruitment and retention at the clinical site’s fingertips. It is designed to accomplish the following:
To serve as a handy reference; 1. To deliver a system of effective methodology; 2.
To help course-correct as needed; and, 3. To impart reassurance about the tasks at hand. 4. Keeping diversity promises to the FDA and delivering on enrollment and retention projections to sponsors all boil down to perceived trustworthiness. This can feel daunting, but it never has to be again.
Welcome to 3D-Clinical Site Passport. Feel free to roam about new possibilities.
Clinical Ambassador, iParticipate, and Cliniware operate under the ‘3D Clinical’ brand to help sites activate real diversity, amplify discovery, and reinforce dimension in and around clinical trials— and across all indications.
3D-Clinical is the branding umbrella for those organizations you may know as Clinical Ambassador (industry-facing DEI), iParticipate (for patients and community), and Cliniware (for related wearable ‘swag’).
Through our site passports, we help sites activate real diversity, amplify reach, and reinforce dimension in and around clinical trials— and across all indications.
Our Ambassador model makes connections happen, with an emphasis on enhancing the inclusivity of your patient cohorts to make your science solid. Our Ambassador-based community reach epitomizes DEI, optimizes your study’s exposure, and supports all of your site’s patient-facing communication.
Realizing broader representation presents its challenges. 3D-Clinical amplifies diversity, discovery, and dimension.
Relying on patient databases can be disappointing when it comes to meeting enrollment goals. And it can result in shortfalls that undermine the fulfillment of DEI plans. But these challenges don’t have to torpedo your study enrollment goals.
We have practical DEI solutions that fit your budget!
Exposure is everything. Sometimes, the patients you need to reach don’t know your study is an option. They often don’t even know your site exists. Our specialty is turning this on its head. iParticipate pursues dynamic opportunities to have meaningful communication with the patient populations you seek to enroll— in person. Human touch is our specialty.
Metrics of merit center around your ability to market your studies to the patients who may qualify to participate— but first making them aware of your existence, your studies’ relevance, and the benefits of their getting involved. We meet them where they are, both physically and emotionally, connecting at the grassroots level.
iParticipate connects your studies to community-based and patient-facing events that result in greater access!
iParticipate is our patient/community-facing branding that makes the case for participating in clinical trials. Our specialty is broadening representation by expanding the spectrum of people who are made aware of clinical trials, delivering study-agnostic education in lay language, and making the case for participating in terms that resonate across cultures with research-naive populations.
iParticipate, with our battalion of local Ambassadors, help sites overcome conceptual, historical, and logistical barriers to participation in your local market. Our high-touch services lay the foundation often missing from the conversation, as well as the interpersonal interactions that provide participants with personalized support, but also make the study’s technical components run more smoothly.
Our holy grail is our ability to introduce your current studies, complement your existing services, and provide a layer of support to enhance patient retention so you don’t miss a beat and your studies can stay on schedule and within budget.
Additional wrap-around services are available that help support you and fill in the gaps that can remain . We can be on standby for any proactive strategies and troubleshooting your studies might need, and always tailor those solutions to the patient, the protocol, and the site in question.
Scrubbing names from patient databases is not enough. As you have undoubtedly been reminded, medical records alone indicating a patient’s fit with your study’s criteria do not consistently translate into enrollment. People will only be as interested in participating as the case you have made for it being relevant to them. Period. You can try to contact people until you’re blue in the face, but they will be intrigued enough to participate in your study when you have connected the dots for them. There is a much more reliable mechanism with which to make projections. It's one thing to "reach" people... but it's another thing ENTIRELY to reach inside and "touch" them. You and your staff can stay put and continue excelling at the mechanics of study management. We will handle the “people” part of your clinical trials— starting with going out into the community sectors where they live, work, play, shop and pray.
Our Ambassadors excel at the art of communication, and making the case for participation within their own communities. We pursue dynamic opportunities to not only drop knowledge, but to engage in open dialogue about the need for representation and what participating on a practical level often entails.
The barriers can be self-inflicted when you come at this the wrong way. Ambassadors are passionate evangelists who not only carry your message, but who spark imagination and curiosity and provide access to more information about specific clinical studies— like yours.
Starting here provides a solid foundation and makes your ask much less transaction and more meaningful.
1. Engage Community: Let’s start with the obvious— launching community outreach programs that spread awareness about clinical trials, provide fundamentals, debunk common myths, and begin a foundation of trust.
2. Educate and Empower: Host patient education workshops and gatherings to empower potential participants with knowledge about clinical trials. Your expertise and guidance can make a difference in dispelling concerns and fostering transparency.
3. Incentivize Participation: It's time to implement fair and ethical incentive programs to compensate participants for their invaluable time and inconvenience. Work with sponsors and IRBs to optimize creativity in showing appreciation for participants’ commitment— while ensuring compliance with protections.
4. Simplify Enrollment: Streamline enrollment processes by embracing digital solutions and reducing paperwork. Your support in making these processes user-friendly will make a significant impact on accessibility.
5. Expand Your Sensitivity: Invest in cultural sensitivity training to better connect with diverse populations. Your dedication to understanding and respecting cultural differences will strengthen your relationships with participants.
6. Flexibility is Key: Offer flexible scheduling options to accommodate participants' busy lives. Let's work together to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate, regardless of their schedule constraints.
7. Communication is Vital: Keep the lines of communication open with participants throughout the trial. Your responsiveness and transparency will foster trust and enhance engagement.
8. Partner with Advocates: Collaborate with patient advocacy groups to amplify our efforts. Your involvement will provide invaluable insights and help us better serve the needs of participants.
9. Seek Feedback: Establish feedback mechanisms to listen to participants' voices. Your willingness to listen and adapt based on their input will demonstrate our commitment to their experience.
10. Nurture Long-Term Relationships: Develop mechanisms to maintain connections with participants beyond the lifespan of your study. Your efforts to foster long-term relationships will also ensure participants’ ongoing interest in future research endeavors.
1. Diversify Your Team: Take deliberate action to diversify your staff and leadership teams. Ensuring clinical sites reflect the communities they serve will go a long way toward fostering more trust and inclusivity through the lens of the patients they seek to serve.
2. Enhance Cultural Competency: Engage in cultural competency training to better serve diverse participants. Your commitment to understanding cultural nuances will improve interactions and build trust.
3. Forge Community Partnerships: Partner with local organizations to co-create culturally tailored recruitment strategies. Let's work together to reach underrepresented communities and increase participation.
4. Language Access Matters: Ensure materials are accessible in multiple languages. Your efforts will break down language barriers and make participation more inclusive.
5. Represent in Community Events: Allow us to help you show up at community events to increase visibility and engage with diverse populations. Your sites’ ongoing and consistent presence in the community will help build needed trust and show your commitment to inclusivity.
6. Advocate for Diversity in Advertising: Advocate for inclusive marketing content that features diverse participants. We can help to ensure your recruitment materials realistically reflect diversity with our original content creative.
7. Address Health Disparities: You can take steps to reverse health disparities in underserved communities. Your acknowledgement of persistent disproportionate disease burden along with your efforts to promote DEI efforts can make a meaningful, tangible impact on health equity.
8. Design Culturally Relevant Incentives: Work with us to design incentives that resonate with diverse participants. Let's acknowledge cultural nuances and values to encourage participation.
9. Track Demographics: Implement standardized data collection methods to track participant demographics. Your attention to detail will help us monitor progress towards DEI goals and ensure accountability.
10. Commit to Continuous Improvement: Engage in ongoing evaluation and adaptation of DEI initiatives. We can help you leverage meaningful human connections and tap into community resources and practical guidance that will drive continuous evolution and make a lasting impact.
11. Lean into Soft Skills: Cultural empathy is important. However, suggesting that the race and culture of clinical site staff have to mirror the patients they see is misleading and just plain false. What trumps “racial concordence” is basic people skills. And the capacity to show genuine caring, concern and sensitivity transcends culture and language, too. Put staff with charisma and sensitivity in patient-facing positions for results.
12. Keep Technology in its Place: Simply making participation “convenient” by introducing robust technology can never replace human touch. The only variable that reliably compels participation is FIRST making people care by showing that you do.
