Feeling the fun at Farm City Days

Fierce winds fan Rockies wildfires CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Strong winds fanned two Rocky Mountain wildfires last week, prompting new evacuation orders as one spread toward communities outside Rocky Mountain National Park. Cool autumn weather had been helping firefighters in their efforts to quell the Mullen Fire in southeastern Wyoming and northern Colorado, and the Cameron Peak Fire in northern Colorado. But gusts of 70 mph have complicated their efforts. Forecasters expected dry air and strong wind to pose a challenge for fire-

The abstract and the concrete Trevor Hoag Just Prairie The German philosopher G.W.F. Hegel once quipped that, contrary to popular opinion, the most concrete things in the world are heady, complex thoughts, whereas it’s everyday modes of thinking and speaking that are abstract, detached from reality for their lack of specificity and rigor. Trump supporters target Michigan governor at rally DETROIT (AP) — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Sunday that President Donald Trump is inciting “domestic terrorism” following “lock her up” chants at his rally in the state the night before. Whitmer told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the rhetoric is “incredibly disturbing” a little more than a week after authorities announced they had thwarted an alleged plot to kidnap the Democratic governor. “The president is at it again and inspiring and incentivizing and inciting this kind of domestic terrorism,” Whitmer said. “It is wrong. It’s got to end. It is dangerous, not just for

(AP) — A retired firefighter who was upset with Wichita's mask ordinance was arrested on suspicion of threatening to kidnap and kill the mayor of Kansas' largest city, authorities said. People of good will on both sides of the aisle need to step up and call this out and bring the heat down." At a rally in Muskegon Saturday evening, Trump urged supporters to push Whitmer to reopen the state following COVID-19 restrictions. When the crowd starting chanting “lock her up”

someone had read him text messages received by another city official that asked about the mayor's address and threatened his life. “He said he was going to kidnap me and slash my throat and he needed my address because I needed to see the hangman — me and everyone who, something about tyranny,” Whipple said. “It sounded like the perSee THREATS | Page A6
