This CD is not really my cup of tea. A bit dreary being a POSITIVE person. I gave him time to perk up. He gets 3 out of 10. (3)
Atmosphere of some tracks quite like Pentangle! A good thing IMO but the country tracks turn me off big time. (7)
Regulär gutes Oldham-Album. Gegen die neue Bill Callahan komplett chancenlos. Über Callahan schreibt aber immer nur der Rolling Stone. (7)
Ich mag, wenn Singer/Songwriter ins Eigentümliche abdriften. Oft schön schräg, meistens schön. Die beste Platte im Test, da bin ich mir sicher. Danke schön! (8)

I love their pretension & the way they take pop music so seriously, plus »Being Boring« is sublime. Of course it’s cheesy but so what! (8)

I like the RAW, NATURAL, ACOUSTIC sound of this CD. Track two has an easy mood to it. Enjoyable! He gets a, can I say 7 and a half? (7,5)
Smackhead poetry is not my thing but this is better than the weak as pisswater bands he’s had. But to be honest I don’t really care that much ... (6)
Freue mich immer, wenn ich nicht über ihn sprechen muss. Shaun Ryder und Erwin Kostedde waren damals doch viel übler drauf. Platte ist hervorragend. (8)

The intro is a bit long for me, nevertheless his vocals come over beautifully warm, which complements his good writing. Easy listening and somewhat mystical. I like it. (7)

Das Klavier des Schmerzes und ein ebenso tief getroffener Sänger. Ist bestimmt wieder schön, aber meine Antony-Platten reichen mir. (6)
Der Gesang klingt, als wäre Antony Hegarty im Körper von David Bowie aufgewacht ... Was zu eng wäre. Ich müsste der Platte mehr Zeit widmen. So: Anstrengend. (5)

I don’t know her stuff that well but I guess this is the more experimental side of her oeuvre. Good to know she’s experimenting but not sure I like that much of it. (5)
Großartiges Album, gefällt mir viel besser als Harveys erste Zusammenarbeit mit John Parish. Teils wieder so dunkelfarbig und rätselhaft wie früher. (8)

Kind of pop punk, but non-obvious chord changes give it an interesting atmosphere. So it’s not »punk lite«. Reminds me of Pinback, which is definitely not a bad thing. (7)

Nice elements to groove to mentally with good vocals and COOL arrangements. It reminds me of HUMAN LEAGUE. Overall 80s sound. GREAT! (8)

Schnieke Retrosounds aus ca. zwei bis drei Jahrzehnten. Irgendwie hat’s ‘ne »Knight Rider«-Ästhetik. Ein bisschen zu viel Disco. Muss nicht, trotz netter Momente. (3)
