Over the past few years, I have worked for a few magazine companies in Clarksville. During this time, I have discovered my true passion for this field. I have spent my entire life in Clarksville, and I am proud to see it grow, aside from the traffic problem we have. I have a little girl who is the most important thing in my life, and I am always on the lookout for new experiences and places to visit. This led me to the idea of creating a family lifestyle magazine that
We aim to offer something unique and unlike anything seen before. We want our magazine to be family-friendly, fun, modern, trendy, and, most importantly, inclusive. We intend to feature everyone in our community, regardless of their profession or status. We believe that every member of our community has something valuable to offer, and we want to showcase that. Clarksville is a melting pot with Fort Campbell nearby, making it a unique and fantastic place. Our first issue will discuss the significance of Memorial Day, what it means to be a mother, gift ideas for mothers, and what comes next after graduation. I am enthusiastic about sharing this with our community and introducing something new and exciting to Clarksville!

Downtown Commons held Kid Palooza on Saturday, April, 20th. Motherhood is one of the most powerful experiences a woman can have. What exactly is motherhood? What does it mean to be a mother? At first, it may seem like a simple question. However, it can take on a different meaning for each mother. It is a sacred journey that is difficult to put into words. It can involve carrying a child in your belly, giving birth, fostering, or adopting. Yet, being a mother entails much more than that. It is a role that requires love, care, and sacrifice.
For those of you who know me, you know the journey was not easy to get here. I married my highschool sweetheart at 18 and, then, we quickly started life right after. We battled infertility for seven years and lost our first baby at seven weeks with an ectopic pregnancy. In one doctor's appointment, I was told I was pregnant- my baby had a heartbeat- but I had to have emergency surgery, and had to lose my baby. That is a moment no one should ever have to experience, and my heart truly goes out to those who have ever experienced it or are currently experiencing it. Losing my baby nearly broke me. It tested my faith. It tested my mental health. I battled months of depression and was in such a dark place. I told myself maybe I was just never meant to become a mother; I guess that’s just not God's plan Then, six months later, after taking a break from seeing the fertility specialist, we were surprised with our rainbow baby, Everly Grace.
What is a rainbow baby? A rainbow baby is a child born following a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, termination for medical reasons, stillbirth, or neonatal death. The rainbow symbol has been adopted by members of the baby loss
community for many years. Although the arrival of a rainbow baby brings joy and hope, it does not diminish the grief and pain felt by parents who have suffered a loss. For some parents, the rainbow symbol may seem too simplistic to represent the complexity of the emotions surrounding their loss. But for many parents, rainbows symbolize hope and light after a dark time.
Everly is my light. Her smile is contiguous and she truly saved my life. From the moment I found out I was going to be a mother, I thought what a privilege this is.
I appreciate everything so much, every single little moment. I know what it's like to struggle, so I try to never take a day for granted, even the hard days. Every toddler tantrum, every sleepless night, every messy meal, every new word she learns, every time she holds my hand, gives me a kiss, learns something new, every tear, every laugh, it's all beautiful. I would do anything for her.
Motherhood is an exhausting but very rewarding job, Motherhood is an incredible blessing and a privilege that I treasure deeply. Being a mother means being brave, being a positive role model, supporting my child through every achievement she accomplishes,
breaking generational curses, demonstrating the boundless love that knows no bounds, and cherishing countless irreplaceable memories. So for me, what does it mean to be a mother? Being a mother is a privilege, and I thank God for her every single day. I am so grateful for her. If you have the privilege of being a mother, however that looks, enjoy it, cherish it, and embrace it.brace it.

Being a mother is a personal experience for every woman; however, it is also something so many of us have in common and can relate with one another. I became a mother almost two and half years ago on November 13th, 2021 to a wonderful little girl, Reagan. She was 15 days early, and I thought I was so ready. I grew up in a divorced household. I’ve spent a majority of my home life with my mom. I watched my mother raise twins and help to raise a step-daughter, and I knew I wanted children for myself. I couldn’t wait to be a mom.
I heard a quote recently that talked about as a first time parent, you really spend that time growing up with your first child, and I really resonate with it. Reagan has already taught me so much about myself and about being a parent: love, patience, reasoning, growth, forgiveness. To me, being a mother means love: loving unconditionally, loving when your twoyear is trying to figure out how to express what she wants, but is only screaming and crying, loving when you are physically and mentally drained from your day job, but your toddler still needs you.
To me, being a mother means patience: patience with a human being learning everything about herself, her emotions, and how to express them, patience with myself when I feel like yelling or spending an extra few minutes in the bathroom for a minute of peace, patience with my partner as we are both learning how to parent together.
To me, being a mother means reasoning: learning to reason with a toddler who only understands what they want, reasoning within myself if I should stick to the boundaries I set or give in just this once, reasoning back-and-forth with my husband on our parenting styles and rules we want for our child.
To me, being a mother means growth: growth milestones with our child- bringing along happiness that she’s learned something new, and sadness that she will never have that first milestone again- growth of our love and patience, growth of myself as a parent, growth of my relationship with my husband as first time parents.
To me, being a mother means forgiveness: the biggest one being forgiveness of myself and my partner. We are going to mess up and make mistakes. This is a learning journey, and we are going to have some trials and errors in figuring out what works best for us as parents and for our child. Being forgiving of myself as I learn how to be a parent at all the new stages my child meets has been one of the most important pieces of being a mother. Being a parent has been the most challenging journey of my life.
I am a full-time elementary school teacher, a parttime event planner, and a full-time mom. Being an elementary school teacher is a challenging and rewarding career. Being an
event planner is such a fun and hard-working job. Being a mom, though, is a challenging, rewarding, fun, hard-working job.
Being an event planner is such a fun and hardworking job. Being a mom, though, is a challenging, rewarding, fun, hard-working job.
It’s the one job that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world, though. It’s been my favorite thing to do, and I look forward to every new day with my little one. To me, being a mother means everything.

are very familiar with someone who is serving in the United States military or maybe you are in a family with someone who is actively serving or retired. Clarksville has a long history of its residents serving their country all the way back to the American Revolutionary war and many of those who paid the sacrifice for their service are interred here in our community that was their home. Memorial Day is a day for remembering the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States military.
As a busy travel weekend, some people may see this day as a reason to fire up the grill and take mini vacations; however, there is a much deeper meaning to the holiday and a close connection to our community of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Originally known as Decoration Day, many communities celebrated this day after the American Civil War in which more lives were lost than in any other American conflict. The day was set aside for mourning and for decorating the graves of soldiers with flowers and flags, many which were in smaller cemeteries. After the American Civil War, many communities began to decorate the graves of those who died during the conflict. Both northern and southern cities set aside a day to commemorate those lost in the fighting. While who first started the tradition is muddy at best, the practice took hold around the country. Following the Civil War, national cemeteries were set up as a place to bury the honored dead and the holiday became Federally recognized in 1971 along with a name change to Memorial Day.
Here in Clarksville, Tennessee, we have over 300 veterans buried in Riverview Cemetery from many of America’s conflicts, including the Revolutionary war. While Riverview is one of the oldest cemeteries, it is not the only one that has the honored dead interred within. In downtown Clarksville, in public square, there is a memorial dedicated to the local people who have paid the ultimate sacrifice during World War 1, World War 2, Korea, and Vietnam. Patriot park contains a memorial stone remembering those who lost their lives and were wounded in these wars as well as modern wars, such as Afghanistan, Iraq, and the first Gulf war.
Clarksville has had countless men and women serve and many that never made it back home, and for many who still reside here, the connection of that sacrifice and our city is strong. For some of these people, they are remembered by name alone, but this day is for a quiet reflection upon the sacrifices they have made to pursue what makes our country great.
So, on this day while you’re spending time with family and friends, remember the great sacrifice paid by many of the residents of our fair city and head out to the memorial celebrations and stones that help to remind us of our blessings.

Kevin Bracy is known to the community as a member of the Bracy Home Group at Byers & Harvey Real Estate in Clarksville. To his family, he is considered a Super Dad. Kevin will celebrate ten years of marriage to his wife Imani Bracy this year. Their family consists of their three children, Naomi, age 7, Alani, age 4, and Emori, age 2. They are also expecting a son this year! Also, an important member of their family is their pet Chihuahua Bella, who will turn ten years old this year, as well. Over a decade, many challenges and milestones have been met. When asked about a challenging part of parenting, Kevin shared, “The most challenging thing for me as a parent would be to have patience at times. When you have [three] kids with [two] being the ages of [four] and under requires a lot of patience dealing with potty training, eating, and everything [else] that comes with it.”

Kevin, although acknowledging the challenges that come with parenting, has family favorites: “My favorite thing about being a parent would be watching my kids grow, learn, and love on each other every day. I love coming home from work and my girls running to me yelling, ‘Daddy!’ No matter how my day went, that always makes my day.” While parenting three little girls while expecting a fourth child and his first boy, plus being a realtor can take up a lot of your time. However, when Kevin is not working or being a dad, he enjoys working out, which is an important piece of self-care. If Kevin could share a piece of advice with other parents out there, he would say, “Everything is going to be fine and everything will fall into place. A lot of times we as parents can overthink things and stress over certain situations when everything will be alright.”

On April 8th, 2024, most of Clarksville spent the beginning of the afternoon outside to watch the solar eclipse. While we were not in the path of totality, it was still a very interesting and cool experience.
A solar eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, casting a shadow that will block the Sun’s light. The Moon is in the New Moon phase during this event. While some schools closed or let out early for this event, CMCSS provided solar eclipse glasses for students, faculty, and staff, and allowed time for all to view and learn first hand about a solar eclipse.
The most important thing to remember when viewing a solar eclipse is to protect your eyes! According to NASA, “Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.” You should use solar eclipse glasses or a safe handheld solar viewer when not viewing a total solar eclipse. This means that before and after 100% totality, protective eyewear should be used. Solar eclipse viewers are thousands of times darker than regular sunglasses and should be verified safe before use.
Most of Clarksville probably remembers the total solar eclipse that was visible here on August 21st, 2017. Those who viewed the 2017 solar eclipse can share how partial and total solar eclipses are very different experiences. While a partial solar eclipse does have less light in the sky, the total solar eclipse experienced seven years ago was an amazingly different eclipse.
The next solar eclipse that will be visible in Clarksville is reported to be a partial solar eclipse on January 26th, 2028!

Teaching is a rewarding, yet challenging career. With Clarksville Montgomery County School Systems (CMCSS) being the seventh largest school district in the state, there are a lot of teachers that deserve to be celebrated in the 931. The 2024 District Teacher of the Year Michelle Winters is our first Educator of the Month. Michelle has been a kindergarten teacher for 17 years and is currently teaching at Carmel Elementary School. Michelle shares about herself that she is “a Clarksville native. I grew up in CMCSS schools. I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelors of Science degree in 2003. I received my Masters of Arts in Education from Belmont University in 2006.” When asked about her feelings on teaching, she continues, “Teaching is my passion and I have been teaching kindergarten in CMCSS since 2006. Kindergarten is such an exciting grade to teach. It will also be an exciting time in the life of your child. I am very happy and honored to partner with you on this journey!” We are excited to celebrate the career, passion, and enthusiasm that Michelle has towards teaching.
Miss Lucille’s Marketplace hosted Sips + Strolls 2024 for their ultimate birthday anniversary of 12 years! Exclusive discounts, mocktails, and event themed drinks were all enjoyed by customers. A birthday bash to remember!
