The production area is located in the Region of Castilla y Leテウn and consists of 74 towns and villages, 53 of which are located south of the province of Valladolid, 17 to the west of Segovia and 4 north of テ」ila. The vineyards are situated on the undulating terrain of the plateau and are conditioned by the influence of the Duero river that runs through the northern part of the region. The climate is Continental, with cold winters and short hot summers. Rainfall is concentrated in spring and autumn. The average altitude of the region is between 600 and 700 m, and only in the province of Segovia exceed 800 m. The soil has many pebbles on the surface. The terrain is stony, poor in organic matter, with good aeration and drainaje. The texture of the soil is variable although, in general, sandy limestone and limestone predominate. The vineyard area is about 12.900 ha. The permitted white grape varieties: Verdejo, Viura, Sauvignon Blanc and Palomino Fino. The permitted red varieties: Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Garnacha.
