ISOI is an independent coeducational day school offering a full educational program from preschool to grade 12. The school is fully accredited by MSA and offers International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. ISOI’s enrollment is currently 265, with a secondary school of 116 students in grades 6 through 12. The current student body represents approximately 26 nationalities. Classes range in size from 9-24 students in the Secondary School.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL ISOI is a private, coeducational, college-preparatory day school. It offers an international curriculum to students of over 26 nationalities representing 16 Diplomatic Missions. The school operates on a semester system and is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

In 1995-96 the ISOI Board of Directors committed the school to actively pursue a program of excellence through Strategic Planning consensus using the model developed by Cambridge Group Inc - "A Strategic Plan." ISOI –An IB World School The International School of Islamabad, an IB World School, is authorized to offer the Diploma Programme. Students wishing to pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme are encouraged to apply as early as possible: preferably prior to grade 9 and no later than grade 11. HISTORY & FACILITIES ISOI is located on 23+ acres on the outskirts of Islamabad. The campus includes Elementary School, Middle School, and High School quads, a gymnasium, an auditorium, an open-air theater, a physical education center, an indoor climbing wall, tennis courts, a track, playing fields, a swimming pool, two libraries, four technology centers and a cafeteria.

LIFE IN ISLAMABAD Islamabad is a planned city with wide, tree-lined boulevards and many green spaces for biking, jogging or daily outings with your dogs. Travel within the city is easy; most destinations are just a 15 or 20 minute drive. The Margalla Hills define one edge of the city and boast well marked hiking trails to satisfy casual walkers, as well as challenge keen hikers. Rawal Lake offers good public facilities and opportunities for outdoor activities.

Islamabad residents may choose to join a variety of affordable organizations, which provide a wide array of social, cultural and sports events and activities. These well-established groups provide opportunities to meet the needs of both local and expatriate residents. Embassies routinely arrange for outstanding cultural performances.

Islamabad residents enjoy a comfortable and active lifestyle which can include dining out, entertaining, diplomatic functions, tennis, golf, horseback riding, cooking and photography classes, visiting museums and art galleries, participating in charitable organizations and a host of additional opportunities. Personal time and energy will be your main constraint.

While excellent medical care is available from doctors and dentists who have qualifications from the United States or the United Kingdom, some expatriates arrange for annual medical care in their home countries or Thailand.

Travel within Pakistan is affordable; the breath-taking destinations are well worth the effort. Several UNESCO World Heritage Sites are within an hour's drive of the city. Newcomers should be aware that travel restrictions may be in place and it is always prudent to check travel advisories from their respective Embassies prior to making travel plans within Pakistan.

Residents will find a variety of places of worship to accommodate most spiritual needs within the community. The majority of the residents celebrate Eid, and local businesses and offices observe government holidays. Dress within the capital is modest. The expatriate community respects local values by minimizing the wearing of sleeveless tops and pants above mid-calf, outside club venues.

Shopping is an eclectic mix of North American, European and Asian goods. Residents are able to find most of their favorite brands or acceptable substitutes. The adventurous may explore a treasure trove of exotic foods, spices and local products. Pakistan is home to artisans who can produce a wide variety of tailored clothing or world class furniture from a photograph. The city has a rich culture, which is reflected in the markets, events, art galleries and museums.

ACCREDITATION & AFFILIATION The International School of Islamabad is supported by the US Department of State/Office of Overseas Schools. ISOI is accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges from Pre Kindergarten through Grade 12 until June 2019.

ISOI is also an IB World School with authorization from the IBO. ISOI is a member of NESA, the Near East South Asia Council of International Schools. ISOI is also a member of SAISA, the South Asia Inter School Association, participating in sports, music and art tournaments with other international schools in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Oman and Pakistan.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Board of Directors consists of nine members of whom seven are elected by the ISOI Society and two are appointed by the United States Ambassador to Pakistan.

The meetings of both the ISOI Society and the Board of Directors are open to all Society members. All parents and guardians of enrolled students as well as academic staff are Society members. Meeting dates, times, and places are announced in WIN, the Weekly ISOI News. The bylaws define voting members as all parents and guardians of enrolled students and academic staff.

Community The Board of Directors and Leadership Team strive to ensure a vibrant, safe community for our students, parents, and faculty. The campus facilities are excellent and provide a welcoming environment where students, their parents and friends may come to engage in extra-curricular activities, enjoy the gym, pool, tennis courts, and playing fields. In the SAISA Region, which includes international schools in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, ISOI's campus is regarded as the premier educational facility. A large number of ISOI students and their families are far from home, family and their familiar culture; it is vitally important they have a school which fosters positive social interactions between new and returning families and, where possible, includes the local community.

COMMUNITY RECREATION The Community Recreation Program supplements cocurricular activities by inviting local enthusiasts and professionals to provide classes in fine and performing arts, fitness, health, sports and/or other areas of expertise. The program also coordinates facility use among constituents to ensure that celebrations, faculty activities and Community Recreation Programs access ISOI facilities in an appropriate and orderly manner which does not in fringe upon ISOI co-curricular activities.

POSITION INFORMATION ISS is proud to be assisting the International School of Islamabad (ISOI) with its search for a new Secondary School Principal. The Secondary Principal is the educational leader of the faculty and students, engaging the Secondary faculty in a collaborative focus on student learning, and bringing the School’s mission statement to life in the Secondary School. The Principal is part of a three-member school-wide leadership team, jointly responsible for the development and implementation of all school programs. The Principal is responsible for a safe, secure, nurturing learning environment; the implementation of a guaranteed viable written curriculum; and the fulfillment of school-wide and divisional goals.
