DearCommunity,
It’sagreatpleasuretowelcomeyoutothefirstCommunityUpdateoftheschoolyear!I hopeyouallhadagreatsummerandareexcitedtostartanewyearoflearning.Ifyou arenewtoISB,wehopethattheeventsofthepastfewdayshavehelpedyousettleinto yournewsurroundings Iamconfidentthatourcommunity,fromstudentsandparents toteachersandstaff,willmakeyoufeelathomeinnotime.
One great occasion to make new friends and reconnect with fellow parents at the beginningoftheyearistheWelcomeBackBBQ,hostedbyourFamilyAssociationAllISB families,newandreturning,areinvitedonSunday,7September,from13:00to16:00to celebratethestartofthenewschoolyeartogether.
Wearethrilledtoberestartingclassesandseeingsomuchlearninghappeningacross campus Aswecontinuetostrengthenpersonalisedlearningforeverystudent,oneof ourkeyareasoffocusthisyearisdevelopingwhatwecall‘agency’.Wedefineagency asthecapacityofindividualstostrategicallymanagethemselvesandtheirlearningin order to fulfill their potential. We believe that developing the skills and dispositions relatedtoagencyisnotonlyvitalforacademicsuccesshereatISB,butalsoformsa solidfoundationforlifelongsuccess
In parallel, our teachers are also deepening their own sense of agency through professionallearning,buildingthecapacitytoimproveintheirpractice Together,by developing agency in both students and educators, we are shaping a community where growth, adaptability, and lifelong success are possible for all. Strengthening agencysetsthestageforallotheraspectsofthelearningprocesstoimproveaswell.

Whilestudentsandteachersweretakingtheirwell-deservedsummerbreaks,ourcampushas beenbuzzingwithimprovements!Amongstmanyprojectsandupgrades,afewhighlightsare worthmentioning:
AttheECC,the“mysteryroom”isfinishedandawaitingdecoration,thestairwellsand hallwaysarefreshlypainted,andtheelevatorisnearlyreadytoopen Anewstorageroom wasalsocreated
IntheES,twonewstaffrestroomsarecomplete,theCreativityCavegotasinkcabinet upgrade,andanewES007classroomwasinaugurated.
TheECC-ESplaygroundsawexcitingupdatestoo:repairedpaths,betterdrainage,fresh gravel,atallercabinroof,andevenabrand-newminiclimbingwallbesidethesandbox. OverinHS,thebigSTEMroomredesignisnearlydone,newglasspanelsareontheway, and fresh paint brightens the halls Water fountains and sanitary floors were also upgraded
TheMSrestroomsrenovationsandnewwaterfountains.
TheMétairieareaunderwentlandscapingandfacadepainting,whileAthleticskickedoffa cutting-edgerunningtrackresurfacing–thefirstofitskindinBelgium!
