Fil-Am mixed martial artist Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Muñoz threw hard punches and kicks on opponent Luke Barnatt, who took them all throughout their middleweight match in the UFC Fight Night 66 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on May 16. The 37-year-old Muñoz didn’t have a hard time with Barnatt, 27, and executed his game plan well. His jabs were delivered on time. Left hooks followed overhand right hands. He used his trademark ground and pound, landing power shots standing while Barnatt was laying on the floor. Muñoz failed to put Barnatt away before the end of three rounds, but the decision win was all worth it. After all, it was the last pro MMA bout of the retiring fighter and it

FPJ ghost behind the scene in the making of a Poe-resident In a country where the dead can still vote in elections, a departed one winning in the poll is not unthinkable. But for sure, the dead can still sway voters.
The specter of much loved former president Cory Aquino was behind her son in the 2010 presidential election that he won. Now, the late Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) seems poised to do the same for his daughter, Sen. Grace Poe. When Mrs. Aquino died of colon cancer on Aug. 1, 2009, the nation grieved. Sympathy, which lingered until the following year’s national elections, coupled with her legacy of ending the Marcos dictatorship and restoring democracy during her term from 1986 to 1992, boosted the campaign of then senator and presidential candidate Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
