Ganawenda fabric will be donated to FILU (Family Information Liaison Units). The fabric will be donated to create blankets, ribbons skirts, and ribbon shirts for families affected by Missing and Murdered Indigenous people. It is an organization that supports MMIW and advocates for justice for families.
Family Information Liaison Units (FILUs) provide specialized services to families of missing and murdered Indigenous people (MMIWG) In 2016, FILUs were established to support families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people. In 2023, the Government of Canada increased support to allow FILUs to serve families of all missing and murdered Indigenous people, including men and boys FILUs help families access all the available information they are seeking about their missing and murdered loved ones from multiple government sources. FILUs are delivered through victim services and Indigenous community organizations and are available in every province and territory.
