BIOMASS MONITORING SYSTEMS A new and exciting technology being introduced to aquaculture, biomass monitoring systems automatically provide real time fish measurements in terms of numbers, size, appetite, and fish behaviour in operational salmon net pens. Currently there are a number of competing technologies being offered by different companies. Some systems use acoustic technology to monitor and assess aquatic habitats. Others employ advanced camera systems linked to 3D modelling systems to estimate the number, size, and health of fish swimming in a net pen.
